Show with the football journalists .. some with links to Benfica, however its very hit n miss regarding validity of the exclusives.
Working in the media as I do (for over 25 years) most of the transfer stories can be somewhat manufactured especially by agents trying to sort out an auction for their client.
What is true is that he is unfancied by the new coach and he needs to play regularly because of the World Cup, where that will be who knows?
Personally it wouldnt surprise me if he actually returned to Belgium instead of moving to Saints but the journalist claiming the exclusive was adamant that his source was correct .. | | | |

Another good thing about Verthongen is that I am fairly sure he could provide cover at LB.
Probably not in a 5-3-2 though; he would need a left-sided midfielder in front of him to do a lot of the attacking stuff, I suspect.
Would be a bloody great signing though.
