Absolutely, a big strong centre forward is exactly what we have needed (so obvious for so long) and first impressions are that he can do the job.
As I said at the time, one of the best things about this window is that the club have finally shown that they understand the problem and tried to sign 2 six foot plus CFs while offloading the utility forwards that they mistakenly thought could lead the line.
It should be said though that we are still dependent on Ross Stewart staying fit. He is our first choice no. 9 and if he is unavailable that puts the pressure straight on to Larin. Being the only centre forward option (Archer isn't a CF) would be a different thing than coming on for the last half hour. | | | |

I'd say we need to give Larin some games time. He didn't get that an Feyenoord. No point in using him as a bit part player because all you'll get is bitty performances. Give him 6 starts and we'll soon know if he can be a consistent threat.

Tonda's system requires a No.9 that holds the ball up and brings in the likes of Azaz, Matsuki and the wingers. Also a No.9 prepared to have a go at goal himself. I never critisied Arma for not having a go shots wise, but he was never the full package as a centre forward. Along with Stewart our options up front are now so much better. | |

The bullet header he scored with on his Saints debut and his goal at Wrexham last night were both top class. Adam Armstrong wouldn't have been capable of scoring either of them.
The one criticism I'd make of Larin is that he doesn't make enough runs off the ball to get onto the end of through passes. Eckert will probably sort that out though. | |

Lots of balls bounced off him last night, back to goal, and hes far more comfortable with the ball in front of him.

Agree he’s great in the air, not that great with his feet. He is perfect for the championship.
