| Cyle Larin 09:23 - Feb 9 with 5639 views | SaintNick | I suspect his standing has increased greatly after Saturday, given that so many were pointing at his 9 game spell at Feyenoord as evidence he was rubbish. Never judge a book by it's cover is probably the motto of the day. Of course one swallow doesn't make a summer, but I would say that perhaps he is the first big strong experienced centre forward that we have had in a long while, so a good addition to the armoury | |

That's 16 goals in 20 games. For me he would have been perfect for this league...and we let him go for peanuts.

Its something we will never know so no point in keeping on about it as he refused to play in the Championship and preferred to go out on loan than play for us in it

| Cyle Larin on 10:05 - Feb 9 with 4664 views | Ifonly | Absolutely, a big strong centre forward is exactly what we have needed (so obvious for so long) and first impressions are that he can do the job. As I said at the time, one of the best things about this window is that the club have finally shown that they understand the problem and tried to sign 2 six foot plus CFs while offloading the utility forwards that they mistakenly thought could lead the line. It should be said though that we are still dependent on Ross Stewart staying fit. He is our first choice no. 9 and if he is unavailable that puts the pressure straight on to Larin. Being the only centre forward option (Archer isn't a CF) would be a different thing than coming on for the last half hour. | | | |
| Cyle Larin on 11:47 - Feb 9 with 4547 views | PJK1972 | I'd say we need to give Larin some games time. He didn't get that an Feyenoord. No point in using him as a bit part player because all you'll get is bitty performances. Give him 6 starts and we'll soon know if he can be a consistent threat. I like Ross Stewart, but sadly his body is not up to being a 1st choice No.9. | |

The problem is that Larin hasn't played much in the past 9 months so I think it is a question of initially balancing Stewart & Larin, so Its hard to call who starts on Tuesday night. I think Stewart probably will, then Larin will start in the FA Cup on Saturday

Larin has never missed a penalty (or so I thought). He's even scored one against Barcelona. It's good to have someone like Lambert, Le Tissier or Peach again with such a good penalty record. [Post edited 16 Feb 17:03]

Think of it this way - he's never missed one as a Saints player and that's what matters. Long may that continue.

Fair point but people are only remembering Archer for missing sitters at the moment!

| Cyle Larin on 10:37 - Apr 8 with 2049 views | PJK1972 | I have to say I had my doubts about Cyle Larins signing, but we have not missed Adam Armstrong, since he was effectively replaced by Larin. Tonda's system requires a No.9 that holds the ball up and brings in the likes of Azaz, Matsuki and the wingers. Also a No.9 prepared to have a go at goal himself. I never critisied Arma for not having a go shots wise, but he was never the full package as a centre forward. Along with Stewart our options up front are now so much better. | |

The bullet header he scored with on his Saints debut and his goal at Wrexham last night were both top class. Adam Armstrong wouldn't have been capable of scoring either of them. The one criticism I'd make of Larin is that he doesn't make enough runs off the ball to get onto the end of through passes. Eckert will probably sort that out though.

| Cyle Larin on 11:48 - Apr 8 with 1919 views | SonicBoom | I think hes been great since arriving. I do however think hes very much a championship striker. Lots of balls bounced off him last night, back to goal, and hes far more comfortable with the ball in front of him. As I said excellent for our run in and hopefully play offs but im not sure he'd thrive the PL. | | | |

Agree he’s great in the air, not that great with his feet. He is perfect for the championship. How slow was the Wrexham defender, it was like watching the Canadian sprinter Ben Johnson against a sloth.
