Is our tussle with York mirroring the battle between Arsenal and City ?

City and York both have the momentum whilst Arsenal and Dale have both had a couple of draws recently.

Arsenal have a local derby coming up whilst Dale have a short trip to Halifax next week.

At least Dale are still playing well..Arsenal were dreadful for a lot of the game last night.

Dale and Arsenal still have the advantage..just a question of nerve now

Comparing your own team to Arsenal is a bigger insult than anything even fans of other team can come up with.

Shame on you.

If Arsenal had won 7 and drawn 2 of their last 9 games - like Dale have they'd be 12 points clear of City!

On the theme of derbies, the Halifax one reminds me a bit like the games at Accrington these days. It’s not far and we always take a good following, but without the ‘massive occasion’ tag that the Oldham and Bury games used to have attached.

Though that’s probably being a bit unfair to Accrington as their home support outnumbers and creates a better atmosphere than seen at the Shay in recent times.

Well remember a cold night in Peel Park in 1962 when the People showed a photo of Rochdale beating Accy 2-0 in front of a virtually empty stadium with the headline. "Accrington Stanley 0- Rochdale 2- and who cares?" If I remember right the crowd was under 1,000 and it was one of the last games(or maybe even the last) before they resigned from the league after 33 games.

I remember feeling cheated out of the 2 points.

Enter Robert Maxwell and Oxford United (renamed from Headington if I remember right).

Robert Maxwell wasn't involved with Oxford United until 1982!

Ah so you spotted my deliberate mistake Wilson.
Surprised you missed my other error.

The Accy/Dale match can`t have been a night match, as it was the "Sunday" People showed the picture and I was a teenager on pocket money at the time and wouldn`t be able to get there without my elder brother accompanying me after school.

However I will excuse you in this instance, though I know you are the font of all knowledge.

Long before I was born, to be fair, which 1982 wasn't.

Edit after a bit of research: The crowd was 2,727 and Accrington played two more games (away at Doncaster and Crewe) before resigning from the league.

No problem, and like I said, a bit of research is often useful to ascertain the facts.
