How Many English Football League Grounds Have You Been To 11:28 - Mar 31 with 4974 viewsSaintNick

This was something mentioned by HedgeEnd Saint in a recent thread,

He had been to 110 and I reckon I have been to 128.

The criteria is that they have had to be the home of "English" League football, so no Scottish or foreign clubs.

It is the ground not the club, so if you have been to the Dell & St Mary's, then that is 2 points, Bristol Rovers you could get 3 points, Eastville, Twerton Park (Bath City) & current home the Memorial ground.

It is the ground not how many play on it, so if you went to Gillingham a couple of years ago to see Saints, you can only get 1 point, not 2 if you also saw Brighton play there when they resided in Kent.

52 of the 92 for me, only really do them with Saints so is mostly dependent on who we play, was hoping to take that up to 55 by the end of this season but i'll be missing Wrexham so only Preston left is a new ground for me

I would say count any ground that you have actually been inside whether it was for a football match competitive or friendly or whether you just did a ground tour or walked in it

15 grounds that no longer exist.
5 non league grounds

All but 3 to a Saints Match.

I’m on 86 of current 92, aiming to get to Fleetwood next Monday to make it 87

Also been to 34 old grounds of current 92

Plus 17 ex league grounds, including Forest Green, Maidstone, Sutton, Morecombe and Macclesfield, but loads of others where I have seen Saints play Aldershot, Torquay, Scarborough, Rochdale, York, Southend, Carlisle, Hereford, Scunthorpe, Yeovil, Dagenham, Hartlepool

So currently 137

Nb does Spurs count as 3 (including Wembley and Old White Hart Lane) I count it as 2, similarly is Bournemouth 1 or 2 ?

55 grounds which have hosted league football (including Wembley).

47 of the current 92. Not done any of the 3 remaining aways this season before though so that will be 58 and 50 in about 5 weeks time.

I have been to all of the current PL and Championship grounds apart from Wrexham, Oxford and Preston. In leagues one and two, I have been to quite a few (teams that Saints played when we were in league one) but quite a few I haven't. Never been to Bradford, Stockport, Lincoln. If we don't go up, we could be playing them next season.

I'm with you on the friendlies but feel that ground tours alone shouldn't count: need to have seen a game there, but I guess it's arguable!

There are a number of grounds I've stood outside - including Bocas Juniors - but not been inside, which I won't be counting!

I once gave a lecture at the Amex. I won't be counting that either!

I've been to Oxford's ground with 3 sides ony! Though they were playing Newport County for an evening game
Didn't think I'd be able to be one up on you SF with you're away record

I got to 45.

Honourable mentions: The George Reynolds Stadium and Heritage Park (Bishop Aukland v Barrow, one freezing winters day when no one else was playing).

Made me wish I'd written them all down. Quite a few where I wasn't sure!

A paltry 24 for me
2 local non league, Woking and Aldersh*t
Easter Road a few times, one of my favourites, great ground, if you sit in The Famous Five stand you have the view of Arthurs Seat above the away end and plenty of great boozers on Easter Road and Leith Walk

Fail we may, sail we must

I have had the view of Easter Rd from Arthur's Seat, but not the other way round. A Hibs game is on my agenda though. And I like that they leave Sunshine on Leith for big occasions only, thus not diluting it

Ha, yes I really wanted to go to Oxford this year, and Wrexham but missed out on tickets. I have tickets for Swansea, been there a few times and will probably get tickets for Preston, as never been there, but that's a 5 hour journey for a 12:30 kick off 🤣. And.petrol isn't cheap. 😭

My mother and father in law have a flat in Meadowbank, less than a minutes walk to Edinburgh City's ground and a 10 minute walk to Easter Road
My missus has no interest in football but is savvy enough to see if Hibs are at home when she wants us to go up
Well worth a visit

I got taken to Easter Road once ( way back when ). Wasn't sure what to expect but was glad I went.

Considering Edinburgh is meant to be the posh side of the country, the locals cranked up the noise and we enjoyed a full day of good craic.
