Coldest - There was a really cold night game in Sunderland. We won one nil i think. Very few Saints fans there that night. Liverpool at home. Alan Ball's first game.in the snow was a very cold night. We won 4-2.
Wettest - Chelsea on boxing day or was it New Year. We lost 2 nil at the Dell.
Hottest - Spurs away, quite recently, first game of the season I think. Ralph was manager. It was boiling that day and the sun was beating down on all the Saints fans.
With other teams, this one. I believe it was - 6°C but with the wind chill factor, it felt much colder:
Hottest: Saudi Arabia v Iraq in Riyadh. About 40°C The Charity Shield game v Liverpool at Wembley in August, 1976 was hot, but not that hot.
Wettest: Malaysia v Indonesia in Kuala Lumpur during the west coast monsoon, which is not as bad as the east coast monsoon when the football pitches all disappear under water. Even my car disappeared under it. Fortunately I wasn't trying to find it after a match.
Can’t think of coldest but wettest is draw between bucharest away and derby playoff away, very different way of getting a draw, one hours on end of persistent rain the other 20 minutes of rain never seen before, same result
Wettest was Derby away in the play-offs. A miserable result followed by a miserable long trek back to the car in monsoon conditions.
Then there was Leicester away at Filbert Street in the early/mid 80's. Drove all the way up there in heavy rain. Game started - but the pitch was so waterlogged, the ref called it off after 10 minutes or so.
Come to think of it, every time I travel to the Midlands to see Saints play, it pisses down with rain big time.
Coldest, Arsenal away circa 1985 for a league cup game. Think it was November and around -7 that night.
Wettest. The Dell circa 1982 at home to Coventry. One of the lowest attendances in years due to the rain. We got destroyed in the east stand. It never let up for the whole 2 hours or so we were there.

If we are including England games, England v Tunisia in Marseille in 1998 was pretty hot (in more ways than one....), and England v France in Qatar in 2022 was a hot one; got back to snow at Gatwick the following day.....

Boxing Day 1970 against Arsenal at Highbury was the coldest I’ve ever been at a game.
I went on a coach from Salisbury where I was staying over Christmas.
Snow covered pitch like an ice rink with the game played with an orange ball.
We got a 0-0 draw, quite how I’m not sure as we were under constant pressure.
Eric Martin in goal and don’t recall that he even wore gloves.
Oddly enough if you look hard enough you can find highlights ( if that’s the correct word ) on YouTube in black and white.
Yes, that was a legendary away game against that year's double-winning team; one of the most memorable 0-0 draws ever. No Saints fan who was there will ever forget it.
Were you on the frozen, open terrace at the Clock End, Mark? A group of us went onto the North Bank because it was covered and warmer.
The main reason it was televised was that all other games in London were postponed because of the weather conditions. We were surprised the game was still on when we got there. Weirdly, it was a day when it was colder in the south-east than in the north.

I rode my 50cc moped all the way from Alverstoke, Gosport to The Dell and back hundreds of times all year round in the 1980's to watch Saints play. I used to leave my bike at the nearby Unigate Dairy car park and the old boy on the gate kept an eye on it for me. Lovely old fella he was too. I have PTSD now remembering the driving rain, snow, wind, sub-zero temperatures that I encountered on those many, many journeys - let alone the number of times I was nearly killed by large vehicles giving me a couple of inches room as they passed me on a dark, miserable match day. Some of those Saturdays were by far the coldest I've ever been! Looking back now, as you do with age and wisdom, I must have been mad.
After one home game, I rode home & had to go out that night for a birthday party at TGI Fridays in Titchfield, Fareham. I went to the bar to get a beer & both Glenn Cockerill and Micky Adams were stood at the bar chatting opposite. I asked the barman what they were drinking and told him to get them a bottle each on me (I know, generous right?). They both shouted 'cheers' across the bar and raised their bottles. Funny the things you remember. I can't imagine players going near a bar these days, let alone seen drinking beer in public.

That was the game I told you about Saturday in the car Nick, when our brother made up about 12 snowballs which we threw at Utd players from the front row of the East Stand. I could never hit a cows arse with a banjo, he hit Mark Hughes on the back of his head early in the first half and got escorted out after about 10 minutes

Coldest - probably that Reading FA Cup game at Elm Park - didn't a Reading fan make a hoax call to Saints and say the game was off ? Wigan FA Cup was also cold but there was more snow in the South that day !! Liverpool League game at the Dell - Tiss scoring after 27 seconds warmed us up and he went on to get a hat trick. Seem to remember them changing to an orange ball as it got more frosty and snowy.
Wettest - too many to remember when I used to sit in the front row of the East. Newcastle at the Dell - 1st half soooo wet. Dried up later and we won 4-2. Port Vale (A) FA Cup - waterlogged but still played. Lost. Tommy Widd sent off. My cousin stepped in a puddle that went over his ankle, before the match, so he had the hump all game. Leicester 9-0 if it wasn't peeing down so badly I would have left early !! Leicester Filbert Street - late 80’s got called off midway through the 1st half ? Bristol City - preseason friendly 90's so wet and flooded that we stayed in the car for most of the first half !! Don't remember Bucharest being that wet - but remember the lack of toilet facilities and our fans giving their police cigarettes
Hottest - don't remember too many really hot ones, or having to apply sun screen before a game - but played a vets game on a tour to Germany and 3 of our team got sun stroke and another farted and followed through - not great when we were wearing all white England kits !!

Coldest was definitely Wigan - firstly I had to walk from Woolston to Bitterne with a bag full of beer through the deep snow as the minibus couldn't get to me on the snow bound roads. Motorways were alright though. Sunderland away was always cold - remember the toilet that you could see over the wall down towards the North Sea at Roker Wettest - Bucharest/Derby/Leicester away all as previously mentioned. Hottest - Possibly Chelsea at home first game at SMS Hottest played in was beating the Stonewall World Cup winning team at Stoneham

Good to learn that there are some fellow Saints fans still alive who were at Highbury on that day dirk doone.
I paid the extra admission price and sat in the main stand and it was bloody cold even in there. I remember buying whiskey from a bar either in or under the stand at half time in a futile attempt to keep warm.
We were lucky ( if that’s the word ) to get to the game because at one point in time the coach lost traction on a hill and nearly everyone on it got off and had to push.
Would I do it all again ? Certainly, but only if I could turn the clock back Fifty Six years.
If I remember correctly an away game at Stamford Bridge was called off about an hour before kick off, think it was about 1995 when Alan Ball was manager. I was in a pub on Fulham Broadway and the word went round that the game had been called off, don't remember it raining heavily but it must have done for them to call the game off
Went to the rearranged game, we won 2-0 with Le Tiss and the van w@nker scoring the goals
