| Disproportionate... 13:26 - May 16 with 1681 views | wibbersda | Somebody please tell me this. If this was happening and caught during the season would we be kicked out of the championship? I would say not, so kicked out of the playoffs seems massively disproportionate does it not? Its trial by media, and the worst type of media at that! | | | | |
| Disproportionate... on 14:05 - May 16 with 1552 views | kingslandstand1 | Valid point. We'd probably have got a hefty fine and points deduction Let's just hope our lot have got a decent defence and mitigation, but more importantly that this so called independent crowd are actually going to look at what actually happened in context and ignore what the press have to say | |

| Disproportionate... on 15:02 - May 16 with 1483 views | LondonSaint76 | Very good point - this is the trouble with the play-offs, even though it is part of the League season and should be regarded as such everyone slips into Cup mode due to the way the play-offs are structured. When it comes to sanctions League v Cup are very different procedures . League sanctions will involve fines, points deductions and in very extreme situations, demotion. On the other hand Cup sanctions involve fines but often also involve expulsion from the competition. As a result of the play-offs being played on a KO basis there are people demanding Cup sanctions for what is still part of the League season. | | | |

Who are an independent crowd though ? How do they know one isn’t a Skates fan, what makes them independent ? Do they get the Inverness branch manager of Tescos along with a Polish lorry driver and a lollipop lady from Belfast as part of the panel just to make sure they’re not biased ?
| Disproportionate... on 15:26 - May 16 with 1395 views | BLEEDRED | Unfortunately no matter what happens next week it will not end there. Middlesbrough have already said if they don't get what they want they will sue the EFL sue Saints and probably sue every Saint's season ticket holder as well . It has now got to the stage that how there can be an impartial outcome ? Every sport lawyer in the land has published guidelines, what the outcome will be. 100's of ex players, journalists, TV/Radio pundits have said guilty will be expelled. I don't think I have ever seen so much mass hysteria before. Saints broke the rules we don't know if this was even club sanctioned. If guilty then the punishment should fit the loss suffered (as no info was gained what was that??) | | | |

I don’t think this has anything to do with Boro anymore. Its all about if guilty then what to do.. All this mess has also made Boro look like an amateur team who think their disabilities on a football pitch can be covered up by this

I know that the panel will make the ruling. If they decide that Saints can play in final it will go ahead. But Gibson has already said that will not be the end of it, he will sue the EFL and Saints
| Disproportionate... on 16:21 - May 16 with 1242 views | Heisenberg | I think he would have trouble suing the EFL as the punishment is against Saints. He could try and sue us and he has previous. My take is if Saints are thrown out they could launch legal action against the EFL. I could be wrong on this it depends on the EFL rules. I am swaying towards us getting a huge fine and points next season. Throwing us out opens up all sorts of legal problems the EFL won’t want. | |

Agree throwing Saints out will be unlikely. If we did give the go ahead for spying it was a very clumsy and poor effort and no advantage was gained | | | | Login to get fewer ads

If they carry on ,we should counter sue . The constant BS served up in the media and if the lad had been physically man handled and forced to delete his phone as first reported, no wonder he ran off . . Worried about more physical assault? ...you understand where im going with this ..its as complex as they want it to be . The more bs they come up with, someone could do the same to them .. . Feed the media with derogatory and exaggerated storys of the alleged incident

Bit of a veteran of disciplinary and appeal panels at both League & County FA level and even some FA appeals as they use us County bods as panel members, OK the IC (Independent Commission) will have an IC Secretary whose job is to collate and present the evidence and then act as a facilitator to the panel making sure all documentation is properly presented and if needs be any rule extracts are available to read. The IC Sec then takes minutes of the hearing - this one undoubtedly will be recorded!! The IC Sec does not vote on the outcome. Part of the IC Sec’s job is to act as a content filter so any ancillary evidence is excluded from the hearing. The only evidence to be considered from Boro’s side will be factual evidence directly pertaining to the events at the training ground on the Thursday before the play-off semi final 1st leg. All the ancillary evidence Boro have been busy scuttling around collecting (such as other clubs allegedly spied on) won’t even be considered - in fact stuff like that won’t even make the ‘final cut’ for the document packs the panel members receive. The procedures are quite rigid, NO ancillary evidence is even considered, just the plain facts, without speculation or conjecture. Of course, the one thing you cannot legislate for is the bedwetter Gibson doing his best to influence the outcome through the medi, I already think he’s done enough to merit a misconduct charge. Easier said than done but in situations like this you are told to ignore anything you have heard outside of the hearing and similar ly deal with the case based on the facts in front of you on the day.l

One of the main reasons this has been farmed out to an Independent Commission is to distance the League from the final decision should bedwetter Gibson hurl his toys out the pram, yet again, and sue the League. The League will claim it was to guarantee impartiality but TBH I think far more about covering their backs which might - just might - mean they know Gibson isn’t going to like the outcome, which in turn might - just might - mean they know the sensible decision is fine & points deducted the next time we play in the Championship.

Perhaps we should let VAR sort this mess out.
| Disproportionate... on 18:44 - May 16 with 962 views | MattFinish | If we’re kicked out of the playoffs as Alfie House said that’s in effect a 10 point deduction That would put Wrexham into the playoffs so the only fair outcome would be to restart the playoffs However, should Hull be there as they had a 3 window transfer ban for financial misconduct in July 2025 for failing to make transfer payments on time for players purchased, surely a more serious rule breach than us because it affected a number of clubs So then Derby would be in the playoffs. | | | |

Or, taking a bit of a tongue in cheek look at it,scrap the Championship play off altogether for this season and just promote the top three Clubs, then watch Hull sue the League, us, Millwall and Boro as well for good measure 😎

That's reassuring, let's just hope it goes that way, but this is such a high profile case now, and we appear to be the most hated club going so death by public opinion?

I'd be happy with that! Scrap the play offs altogether as it should be. You finish in the top 3, the top 3 go up!
