Not sure if those at the very top would have known but who knows maybe they did.

| Eckert admits he was responsible on 22:47 - May 19 with 6597 views | Joiedevivre | The Telegraph are saying our pre match meetings would include mentions to information taken from "the opponents training ground". Our staff thought this was a massive joke and would send memes about it in groupchats. The "didn't know the rules" excuse does not wash either. One analyst, staff member, or higher up would've mentioned. Leeds spygate made it known this wasn't on previously. [Post edited 19 May 22:47]

| Eckert admits he was responsible on 23:19 - May 19 with 6444 views | DorsetIan | Oh dear. First, ignorance of the law is never an excuse. Secondly, there aren’t that many restrictions on tactical analysis. The idea that no one knew and was able to educate Tonda about the rules is laughable. (And why did Mr Salt run away if he didn’t think he was doing anything wrong?). Sounds like we were trying to get team and tactical info - exactly the thing that is prohibited. So we’re bang to rights. Gotta feel for young Mr Salt in the middle of this. Cocked up his spying mission and look at the consequences. Hope someone’s got his back. And what’s the point of Tonda saying this now? He should have taken all the blame and pleaded his naivety much earlier to protect the Club itself. Funny old game. Just when you think you’ve found a football genius, turns out he’s an idiot. | |

| Eckert admits he was responsible on 23:32 - May 19 with 6337 views | Ifonly | So: - This didn't only happen in 3 games then. Why would he only have done it in those 3 games if he knew it helped and didn't know there was anything wrong with it? - Spors is guilty too, either because he knew and didn't stop it, or because he didn't know and so wasn't doing his job properly. - A lot more needs to be said. Somebody must have known it was illegal, we can't have a club with zero people who know the rules. As Dorset Ian says, Salt knew the rules, he knew he was cheating. So is Tonda being completely truthful here yet? | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Why would he only have done it in those 3 games - Call me a cynic, I would venture to suggest that the reason they have offered up also spying against Oxford and Ipswich is because we didn't win either of those games to add to not winning the Boro away game. Perhaps the thinking was that by not being seen to gain any real advantage it would somehow mitigate the severity of the punishment. As I have said, call me a cynic, but it's a bit of a coincidece, isn't it?
| Eckert admits he was responsible on 00:12 - May 20 with 6238 views | MattFinish | I can confirm observing opposition training sessions is commonplace on the continent I’ve spoken to a Twente representative at Cambuur’s training ground before who was watching a training session. You could be right. I was wondering if these were just the only 3 clubs that complained and we fessed up to them i.e. if more had complained we'd have fessed up to them too. But, surely the panel would have asked us straight up how many games we did this in? Seems negligent if they didn't. So, what was our answer I wonder? I only hope we didn't tell a lie that will later be uncovered. | | | |

Spot on - if we are further caught lying if more instances are uncovered then I fear additional points deduction/s could be added next season combined with a further trashing of our reputation that is already tarnished...

The appeal will be on the severity of the sentence (an appeal that has to be heard under EFL and FA rules) they will be leaning heavily on the precedent set by the Leeds decision in 2019 and claim expulsion is an unfair and disproportionate ramping up of the sentence in comparison to the 2019 decision. Ifonly and I are only speculating about the likelihood of the club not revealing all opponents spied on at the initial hearing, so yes, they will still bowl on and appeal - only time will tell if this is another foolhardy decision to add to the decision to spy in the first place.

You are correct - ignorance of the law shouldn’t be an excuse. Notwithstanding which in recent years this appears to have been an excuse judges have applied to certain “visitors” from other countries, so why shouldn’t Tonda get the same allowance?

| Eckert admits he was responsible on 06:46 - May 20 with 5632 views | Heisenberg | There is no way the coaching team didn’t know about this. If Tonda claims he didn’t know it was against the rules then others around him did and should have told him. Tonda will be sacked for this. The only thing that seems a bit odd is why didn’t Ipswich and Oxford and possibly others report concerns at the time and provide evidence to the EFL. This doesn’t excuse anything but it does seem strange that two clubs think they may have been spied on but it only came out when it blew up at Middlesborough. | |

And that we didnt beat any of them If I was Wrexham or Charlton I would be studying training ground cctv from the previous week It’s embarrassing and a mess from top to bottom Heads must roll That said an expulsion plus fine would suffice in my book

I hate to tell You this but this season was year two parachute payment due to the rules of promotion/ relegation within 3 years . When we got promoted last time the parachute payment is on pause ...so when we got relegated again straight away year 2 starts ...so next season is year 3

| Eckert admits he was responsible on 08:41 - May 20 with 5235 views | PatfromPoole | Eckert is hardly new to English football. He was assistant manager at Barnsley a few years ago. To plead ignorance of the rules is like someone saying they didn't realise you couldn't steal from a shop. | |

Sadly, I agree with this. I’ll add that has to include all of the coaching team. They all have to go. If Eckert and Garner knew about this, then it stands to reason they all knew.

Exactly! Ignorance is not a valid reason. I tried it when I was stopped for speeding in Germany, I didn't realise it was a 30kph and not a 50kph ... I explained that, was told "you should know" (which is fair) and got a 200 euro fine.

In today's Paper there is a photo of Aston Villa Training yesterday ahead of tonight's Europa Match. I don't understand what is the difference. Are the Media allowed to film training but opposing clubs are not allowed. Or is it because it's a match abroad so the " spying" rules don't apply. Either way for Tonda to admit that he did not know it was not allowed is rubbish. It's his job to understand the rules/ the do's & dont's of the English Football Lge. Does he know that he's only allowed to play one goalkeeper or that you can only have eleven players on the pitch at any one time. He's done a fantastic job but there are serious question marks about his knowledge of the rules of the game.
