| Field bindweed in Middlesbrough? 15:35 - May 21 with 6364 views | dixiefrog | Sorry if this is a bit of a stupid question, but does anyone know the date that the photo was taken on the supposed spy next to the tree. I ask as the full photo published by The Times clearly shows two lots of White Field Bindweed (Calystegia sepium) in the background. Now Field Bindweed only flowers between the months of June and September (and later in the north), if Middlesbrough said that the photo was taken within 48 hours of the May 12th game, then that can’t be correct as the bindweed couldn’t have been in flower. I can only imagine that the photo was taken in October the previous year, was photoshopped, or tampered with to provide a spurious creation date. Whichever is the answer it might be worth asking Middlesbrough FC how they manage to get their Field Bindweed to flower so early. | |

First he was supposed to be hiding in in the non-existent bushes, then he was standing next to a tree and the latest version up there is that he was standing on top of a fence. There's been more cheating involved in the campaign against the club than there was by it. Boro are going to get promoted by any means possible, which will presumably include trying to injure Hull's most skilful player like they did against us. [Post edited 21 May 15:44]

I appreciate that SFC admitted a number of failings, however if Middlesbrough did alter the date or the image itself, what was their motivation to do so and if it was taken in October 25, then why didn’t they flag it to the EFL immediately?

There are a lot of suspicious aspects to what Boro did. I've read that the ex-Saints employee who supposedly spilled the beans, was employed by Middlesbrough, came to Southampton for 2 months, then went back to Middlesbrough. I wonder if there has been similar activity by them at other Championship rivals? [Post edited 21 May 17:19]

If this thing ever gets into court we can kick old Lord Pannick and his £10k/hr into touch and get Monty Don on board. His daily rate is all he can eat at the nearest Holiday Inn buffet bar plus half a dozen pints of Wadsworth 6X.

Sorry Bridders but I’m a complete duffer when it comes to tech. If you Google The Times spygate photo then click images, then you should be able to see the photo (with the bindweed). If any Uglies can copy this image to enlight everyone, then I’d be eternally grateful.

Blimey I knew Tiff Needell was a Saints fan I didn't realise Monty Don was too

What I am desparate to find out is whether this whistleblower REALLY exists. If Mboro knew Salt was coming it changes everything. It makes them nearly as guilty as us and makes them totally ineligible for the final.

Yes, but the bindweed point is a potential game-changer. You must surely see this.

Anyway it couldn’t possibly be Middlesbrough. Everybody knows that nothing grows there. [Post edited 21 May 17:15]

| Field bindweed in Middlesbrough? on 17:20 - May 21 with 4561 views | DorsetIan | Like others above, I really like the post and the botanical detective work but... ...surely, someone sploke to Salt and if he wasn't there on the date they say he was then he would have said so and that would have been the Club's first line of defence. Could there be any other explanation for something appearing to be Field Bindweed appearing in the picutre but atm we have we the Club/Salt apparently admitting he was there on that date and you telling us that he couln't possibly have been. While I'm writing, I have west facing front garden but which gets a lot of wind and sea air (sometimes bringing astringent sand). I don't have too much time to tend to potted plants and my fingers are certainly not green. What can you recommend to brighten these otherwise very dark days. Thanks. | |

That's what I saw - well spotted if it can be confirmed it is that particular bindweed Have you thought of putting it across to the club in some way or other? Probably won't make much difference now, and has William Salt confirmed that photo was taken when Boro said it was

| Field bindweed in Middlesbrough? on 17:45 - May 21 with 4456 views | SanMarco | Salt must have been there that day. The bindweed says more about the photo, which may be a fake, or have been altered. If Mboro knew Salt was coming they should be kicked out. Is the whistleblower true?? | | | |

the reason I ask is that the wider photo I've seen of Will Salt behind the pine tree has hawthorn hedge in flower to the left and the right of the picture. Hawthorn of course flowers in May which is why it's also known as May Tree.

Sorry for the late response, but with respect it’s all about the bindweed. If it can be proven that Middlesbrough lied in their use of the photo, then what else did they lie about. Therefore not a credible witness.

My problem with this photo has always been there claim a man was spotted and legged it to get changed at a nearby hotel Whilst deleting footage equipped with surveillance gear How on earth did they get this photo? And why was it only released by the Scum Fail a couple of days later Surely if they had this they would have immediately presented it as evidence

Here goes with my response to your questions. 1. Witnesses can be manipulated (perhaps) especially when there’s 150 million hanging on the outcome. 2. I refer to the above, how much would you want to be somewhere/somewhen? 3. If you’re not a gardener then I would always recommend a nice bottle of single malt, after a while you no longer see the weeds.
