I like Tonda a lot as a football manager and was looking forward to good times ahead under him. He is so driven and fiercely desperate to win that he ended up going too far (and ended up being desperately naive and we got caught for being idiots and sending a known face from SFC). But I love the fact that he is so driven and I loved that he turned us into a team wasn't the soft, far too nice team that we were in the past. He turned us into an aggressive, fierce team and I loved waatching us under him. I honestly think we would have survived in the PL, and got to a cup final under him but it's not to be.
That's why we won games because he turned us into a nasty side that was really difficult to beat. I didn't mind some of the dark arts. It helped us win but we didn't need to do the spying. It was totally stupid. Personally, he did something stupid that had catastrophic consequences, but if he was able to, I wouldn't mind if he stayed. He didn't murder or hurt anyone. He just wanted Saints to win. He is the best manager we have had in years and gave us a team to enjoy.
But, there is no way he will stay. He will be suspended, then sacked without a doubt. And, we probably go back to a Will Still type of apppointment where the manager does everything by the book, a far less aggressive team and we get beat most weeks. So, I am certainly not celebrating Tonda's departure but it's inevitable he will go.
YES- We should keep Tonda - if he wishes to stay. He is a great Manager. He made a really really stupid mistake. He is Young and Talented. He clearly should apologise and he has work to do to rebuild. He will also get a heavy sanction from the FA. Yet we should all all we can to help him through this. The owners made a good appointment. How many of us have screwed up. How many Managers have done things they regret.
You assume wrong. I’ll say again I don’t care how we’re perceived or received by the media or other clubs. He’s the best coach we’ve had in years. He’ll probably have to go, that doesn’t make me feel any better and it’s more than irritating to hear all this constant condemnation. Give it a rest.

I can't see Tonda being allowed to pace up and down those relatively small technical areas at away games next season and all the abuse that will get shouted & hurled at him.
And imagine that Boro lose tomorrow to Hull (fingers crossed they get battered). I'm not sure Tonda Eckert will be allowed anywhere near the city of Middlesbrough - let alone their football ground!

err not many want to see him around Southampton let alone Middlesbrough. He has completely fooked it even if it's a crappy rule, you still don't do it and he knew what he was doing. Also, pressuring his team (some youngsters) into doing things he knew were illegal too.

Tonda is probably telling us blatant lies. It seems impossible to believe him when he claims ignorance of the rules because:
- Will Salt knew he was cheating. His behaviour at Boro shows that. - It is reported that Salt refused to spy on Ipswich, before going on to spy on Boro. If so, it can't have escaped Tonda's notice that his chief spy had backed out. - Even if Salt didn't refuse a spying mission on Ipswich, he knew he was cheating and must have discussed this with someone. - If Salt didn't discuss illegality with Tonda directly, then whoever he discussed it with will probably have raised it with Tonda. - The EFL say that junior members of staff (plural) were put under pressure to do things that they felt were morally wrong. That discussion can't have happened without Tonda, or another senior figure being aware of it. Tonda ordered the spying so he would have been told if staff were morally opposed. - Other staff would have been aware of the information produced by spying and must have suspected that we were breaking the rules, not least because of the Bielsa scandal. Those staff members must have discussed it with Tonda.
There are multiple ways that Tonda would have been made aware of the cheating, which happened over the course of 6 months or so. Even if he was ignorant at the beginning, he must have been made aware at some stage. The set of circumstances required for him to remain ignorant are just too extraordinary to be credible.
So Tonda is probably telling us blatant lies and it sounds as though he's told those blatant lies to the hearing too. Not a good idea and I doubt if the hearing believed him.

Lets be blunt here, when we played Boro in both games we were content to sing Tonda Eckert's name and take the p*** out of Boro fans with binoculars.
If we had been simply fined and then played in the game tomorrow, everyone would be singing "Tonda Eckert he spy's where we wants"

It's not fickle Nick. He got caught cheating it resulted in us being thrown out of the playoffs, etc. It's a f'k up more major than anything a person has ever done in the history of the club.
It's like saying it would have been fine if he kneecapped the entire Boro team the night before the match, just as long as he didn't get caught.

It's true, I wouldn't sack him, but I believe he'll get banned by the FA in which case he's got to go. I also understand why people want him gone, that's fair enough.
For me I think that we take our punishment and don't complain but I see no reason to voluntarily punish ourselves further. Football is morally bankrupt and some of the posturing by other fans is frankly laughable.
Look at City and their charges. Look at teams that employ players that have done horrific things in their private life - but as long as you can play they find ways to excuse it. And I include drunkenly killing people in their cars. Even Talk sport employ drink drivers and wife beaters. I'd actually be more embarrassed if Sainnts employed people like that. I include Hull who didn't pay their debts so denied other teams their revenue. They have benefitted from a team they couldn't actually afford. Isn't that cheating?
Don't get me wrong, We did wrong and we have been caught. No complaints. But I'm sick of being lectured by clubs that all have their own skeletons.
We will sack TE, he'll get banned, then at some point another team will snap him up because he clearly can manage. And that team will probably be lauded for being prepared to give him a second chance. Football stinks in general and that is the backdrop and context to our charges.

I want him to stay (but assume he’ll be banned by the FA anyway). Reasons: - He’s a good manager, proven winner, adaptable. - We’re not in a position to attract anyone decent at the moment and we’ll be back to Sports Republic picks, could be another Jones, Still, Juric. - He isn’t as likely to move as other clubs won’t want the bad publicity. Maybe he’ll be more loyal to us in the future if we stick with him now. - The media and general public seem to have us as public enemy number one at the moment anyway, so we should embrace it and siege mentality time. - I am fed up of being plucky losers, he wants to win.

We’ve already been over-penalised so as far as I’m concerned he can stay.
You assume incorrect. But the f a will punish him by banning him for at least a year so we will have to find someone else . I d g a f about other clubs and the stick we get ...phuck them get behind the team and show them we are still winners and competitive ..yes He made a mistake,we all do . I hope all concerned are ok ,wellbeing and all that as i bet their heads are proper fúcked .

as soon as he and anyone else involved are suspended they will all be sacked for free,we've admitted to 3 offences just how many times did we spy,we will probably never know.
