What happens with Ramsdale now ? 11:41 - May 27 with 2132 viewssaintmark1976

Not a mega successful loan spell at Newcastle.who I suspect may not wish to loan him again.

Given our failure to reach The Premier League will we be able to afford his suggested wages of £120000 pounds a week ?

I suspect we will want/need to sell but who’s going to pay decent money for a keeper who has been relegated three times from The Premier League with three different clubs ?

As he’s our player I’m guessing if they don’t want him he will return.
If he is too expensive, again I’m guessing they will be open to offers to borrow or buy.
Failing that he fights for his place in the team, I guess.

I see a loan on the horizon to another club.. The club will want to offset his wages with a loan fee and he won't want to play championship football. Danial Peretz is a better keeper, so if he is willing to come back on loan I'd have him in a shot.

He'll probably/maybe go to one of the newly-promoted teams bearing in mind his experience. They'll have the money to loan him or buy him outright if he agrees to a deal. We'll probably take a loss on him but 'if' (big if) we can acquire Peretz permanently, I'd be happy with that.

Under the EFL’s new Squad Cost Rules where we can only spend 85% of next season’s generated revenue on transfers in & wages ect, at £6m a year Ramsdale is simply unaffordable. We are cushioned for next season by a £40m parachute payment, then that’s it, no third season payment for us due to the ‘One Season Rule’ - get promoted to the PL and drop straight back down and you don’t get Year 3 of the PP.

The additional problem is if we loan him out again any Club likely to be interested will probably want us paying a fair chunk of his wages, again, not acceptable with SCR in mind. This wasn’t a problem this season as Newcastle have enough money to afford the wages, not many others will for a keeper with three relegations on his CV. I can see this one being a real headache to resolve.

One would hope there is a relegation clause in place.

However, given how keen we were to sign him at the time, it wouldn't surprise me if there wasn't.

My immediate thoughts are that he wouldn't want to play in the championship, hence his move to Newcastle when we went down, so he will probabaly be sold or go out on loan again. However, he hasn't got anywhere for Newcastle and might want guaranteed football again and could stay here? I doubt it, but you never know.

One of the reasons last year was he wanted to be on the plane to the USA which he obviously isn't given his lack of game time, so he may have a big personal decision to make, do I want to actually play football and get paid less?
