Starts in a few days and barely a peep on here about it. This is possibly the least interested I’ve ever been in a World Cup. Previous World Cup’s have had similar or worse kick off times, 2002, 2014. But it’s not just that, 48 teams in it, with 32 going through is rubbish. Fans getting ripped off massively by FIFA and America, America treating teams and players like crap.
And Jordan Henderson being in the squad.
I can’t be arsed.
Will try to watch the England games but it’s not even going to be fun seeing Scotland crying when they get knocked out early on as they’re playing Haiti FFS.
Roll on Saudi 2030, that will be a laugh and Jordan Henderson will probably still be on the squad.
It is not the World Cup as we know it. It isn’t about the football, It’s about money, and the way that it is distributed is no less corrupt than under Sepp Blatter. I may watch some England games, but probably not. I hope this tournament will serve as a warning to those greedy Euro clubs and Euefa.
Likewise, I just cannot get excited about this World Cup. It's become a non event, I just might get interested if England get to the final but that is unlikely to happen. It's very noticeable that some of the major Sporting Events are declining in interest. The Epsom Derby was run last Saturday & virtually nobody noticed. Is this lack of interest due to us overdosing on TV coverage of Sport.

Good shout. Times gone by the WC would be anticipated big time...normally a good opener with shock potential and a steady ratchet up of the fun and tension as the big boys clashed later.
Your right on sport saturation too...Derby/National/Formula 1/Tests and even the bloody Boat Race FFS were in your" to watch" list.
Now the WC descends to Trump getting a Peace Prize from that gimp Infantino whilst banning half the world from attending and now I only tune into Test Cricket to see if a pissed up Stokes appears and lamps the Ump.
Just put my When Saturday Comes wallchart up in the kitchen Remains to be seen how many of the results I fill in before losing interest
Will probably watch as many games as I can as I still love the World Cup Will avoid watching any England games down the pub as the thought of being surrounded by people who never go to a match watching the "footy" and singing Three Lions or even worse Sweet Caroline makes my blood run cold

Boat Race , What Boat race. That's always been a non event, not exactly a spectacle or exciting to watch. The only people interested in that are the two crews.
Really looking forward to it. International tournaments always interest me, though England has never been of much interest to me. No feeling there for the team’s results.
Only issue is the kick off times, though this cannot be helped. People seem to be very moany over this WC so far.

Well that last one might also be out for you then with what Stokes has been up to!!

Even the crews in that are professional now and brought in the the Uni's cost of their rowing expertise
I've had minimal interest in it so far, though I have put the first 3 England games in my diary and will probably watch them.
The biggest down side for me (as has already been mentioned) is the 48 teams in it, why, other than pure Infantino greed, but also the Trump affect who has already tried to influence how well the US do as well as him cancelling Iranian and Somalian visas. And then you've got ICE rounding up all the Haitian fans as soon as they arrive
And then Infantino himself, another Sepp Blatter but with another name. All bent as 9 bob notes!
But despite all that, I will probably get in to it, particularly the latter stages
The David Beckham penalty in Euro 2004 was the one that they're still looking for. Even if you were behind the goal, you'd have been looking up at the sky for that one.
Wokey Cokey 'Loser' Southgate ruined my interest in International Football. Tuchel is better, but it's a Competition that's now All about Money. A ridiculous number of Teams involved, and the Competition elongated until the middle of July, played in three countries. I might tune in when the Competition moves on to the last 16, but irrespective of which Teams are in the last 16, I probably still won't bother watching. Both EUFA and FIFA continually interrupt our Domestic Leagues. Players playing almost 12 months of the year. I'm awaiting the Championship Fixtures for 2026/27, and can't wait for the new Season to begin.Roll on August
Interestingly there is very little fanfare here and no real signage or advertising trying to hype it up. To be fair, NYC is abuzz with the Knicks being in the NBA finals for the first time in 27 years and most New Yorkers are very excited about that instead. I've been here well over 20 years and ironically this World Cup feels like the least anticipated World Cup among the natives that follow football (the soccer variety).
However, talking to some of the dads at my kids' school on the weekend, they are all super put off by how expensive it is and how Trump is trying to "sports wash" himself through both this and the LA Olympics in 2 years' time. And these guys can afford the tickets and you'd expect them to be the prime target for overpriced experiences (one of them is somehow a committed Arsenal fan despite being born on Staten Island and travelled for the CL final). My guess is the ticket prices will plummet and some of the less sexy ties will feature half full stadiums as ticket resellers realize they can't price gouge as they thought they'd be able to.
I, however, always enjoy watching international tournaments. I always go in with the irrational expectation England will win and am always disappointed but I keep coming back for more each time.
I'm over there for three weeks from the 25th been offered tickets for Panama game can't be bothered can get tickets for a game in Philadelphia for 30dollars might go just out of curiosity ivory Coast against somebody
I watched some of the game last night and it did make me laugh when I saw overweight guys sat the front with big trays full of food and drink.
Haha, that was brilliant. And England player went to take a corner and the two fatties were just tucking into their ale and food, not a care in the world.

I had to pause it and get my kids to come and look at the weird Americans having a proper meal watching football. Funny.
Maybe I’m clueless but I can see why England are one of the favourites, they’ve got some brilliant players.
