Ungrateful git.

I am sure he has his reasons, and he is free to do what he wants but yeah, what an ungrateful g!t. We paid him throughout his injuries, got him fit again and then brought him back into the team. No loyalty there for sure.

Romeu off as well. What a waste of money he was.

Genuinely disappointed to see him go.

Very disappointing. I don't know if the club have made any effort to see if he would sign a new contract or whether they were happy to let him go, or whether he was not interested any way, so I am a bit reluctant to say anything negative but if he had a chance to stay and he indicated he wasn't interested then that would be disappointing.

So i believe, Saints triggered their option to extend the deal as was their right to do within 5 days of the final game of the season.

But Stewarts agent refused saying that it hadnt been done as the final game was now the 2nd leg of the Boro game and not the play off final as it had been cancelled.

Stewart has somewhat burned his bridges now, I think that there could be some legal redress against him by the club

Players in all sports hide behind their agents. "I love the club, but my agent handles the money side". Panacea for all greedy and self-interested behavior.

However, I'm not sure we want to start legal action against players - who will want to join us if they think we'll sue if they act according to their agents recommendation?

There certainly is a player there and he has a good eye for goal. but like all players as soon as he's fit and he senses a bigger payday he's off.
I am interested to see where he goes, maybe Hull, as there is always going to be fitness doubts. Let's face it he never plays 90 minutes does he.
Hopefully we recruit a decent replacement and not another Damien Downes.

I wonder what the £ per game and £ per goal was since he signed from Sunderland. We really only got bits of a season out of Stewart and when he did play, although good, he was only half a striker as Larin was playing the other half.

I'd have to say overall not good value for money. We can get an upgrade on him and now is our opportunity to do so.

At the very least we should ask him to pay for the Physio's time. the medication we pumped into him and £2k/ month rent on our state of the art treatment table.

Piss poor form really.

With Che Adams and Lawrence Shankland starting, I'll doubt he'll be on the pitch long enough.

Shame he's leaving but I'm assuming the club wanted to make an offer based on his fitness and injury issues

I'm intrigued to see where he ends up, I would imagine he'll have to take a pretty detailed medical.

When Ings left we were all very disappointed, but in hindsight it was the right decision and it could well be the same with Ross

Rather disappointing given we stood by him whilst he spent so much time injured
Makes me wonder if we have a decent replacement lined up?

Reminds me of a player who played for my home town team Woking

Scott Rendall did his cruciate ligament, his op was played for by Woking fans doing a crowdfunding, as soon as he got fit he buggered off to Aldershot

When he came back and played in the local derby he scored for those w@nkers and then gave it the bigun winding up the very fans who paid for his op and rehab

Perhaps he wanted a longer deal and we only wanted to give him another year.

He’s taking a very big risk that may or may not backfire on him .

West Ham bound? seems like their type of signing.

Can’t see a premier league club coming in for him.

This is a major cock up by Saints. It should have been sorted well in advance of the end of the season. He would have been valuable whichever league we were in, either as a first choice in the Championship, or a back up in the PL. Now we'd have to pay big bucks for a replacement, which won't happen. Expect another Damion Downs style, cheap gamble incoming.

Dragan said we won't be weaker this year. He needs to deliver on that, and without a centre forward of similar quality to RS, he will have failed. There has been some good news recently on contract renewals, but this is a major set back.

he was probably worth taking a chance on at the right money, but we all know hes quite fragile so wouldn't be to worried about him moving on sure as eggs are eggs he will break down again as soon as his bodies put under pressure

Worthy of trying the extra year, but nothing more because its too much of a risk. Im sure other clubs will be thinking the same if hes looking for tha last big deal.

Tonda and his team and the physios did a really skillful job keeping Ross fit and playing, and when he is playing he's a very intelligent striker and linkman. But they knew his limitations, which a new club won't, so I expect him to get crocked again soon.
Shame, it's a big loss for us....and I suspect for him.
