Bursik joined last summer on a free transfer although he is said to be worth about £700k now.
Neither have ever been rated at above the £1.8 million Schmid is worth now.
Gavin Bazunu was valued at about £13 million when he got injured in our promotion season, even now his value is around the £7 million mark, although entering the last year of his contract, I would expect him to go for less.
In the Championship Schmid has conceded 93 goals in 69 games an average of 1.35 per game
Bursik has a very similar record, 78 goals conceded in 60 games
Bazunu has a far better cv than either of them in terms of level played, but in the Championship has 1.35 goals per game for both Saints and Stoke in 65 appearances.
Bazunu has a decent pedigree, but he has never recovered from being thrown in at the age of 20 into the worst defence in the Premier League, his confidence was shredded.
He needs to go somewhere where he can rebuild that confidence without the pressure of the fans being on his back.

I understand why people might not think he is very good, but not the abuse he gets, Alex McCarthy has just left the club, he got paid more than Bazunu and in the past 4 seasons played just 23 league games, most of them not that good, yet I dont see the vitriol hurled at him | |

TBH If a club offered £1.8 million for Bazunu, I think that would be a good deal in the current market.
I'm not convinced he covered himself in glory at Stoke, given some of the goals I saw him concede for them. | |

I don’t hate him I just know he’s terrible really terrible, worse than McCarthy and he’s the worst keeper I’d ever seen at saints pre Baz. | |

He's only "hated" because most fans could see for a long time that he wasn't good enough, but he kept turning up like a bad penny. The same thing is in danger of happening this season with Damion Downs. If he's back in the squad, fans will "hate" him in the same way and for the same reason - he's not good enough.
Just as fans felt frustrated when Baz came back last season, the same thing will happen with Downs if he plays this season. Nothing to do with him as a person. It's just frustration when the club can't see what most fans can see, and we end up losing matches as a result. | | | |

Nick, saints fans didn’t hate Bazunu we just didn’t think he was very good that’s all.
You seemed to rate him for some reason but didn’t rate Peretz when he first played when it was pretty obvious to most that Peretz was dodgy to start with because of his lack of game time . We could see how he commanded his area and was very vocal and despite the odd error he also made some good saves . He just needed time. |  |

Why has he got a decent pedigree? Because he was a Man City youth? From day one he has been appalling. He now also looks injury prone. If we could get 2mil for him I would be stunned . The only good thing he has done is get injured at the end of the promotion season forcing Martin to play McCarthy. We wouldn’t have gone up with Baz in Goal.
As others said, no one hates him, it’s the frustration of watching him steal a living. | |
