If you've been to Argentina, you'll know that the Falklands War is a massive issue there. It's hard for people in this country to comprehend just how important it is to them. There are monuments everywhere with maps of the Falkland Islands on them. There are literally hundreds of them and more are still being built. The main war memorial has pride of place in the centre of Buenos Aires with a guard of honour stationed in front of it.
To them, the Falklands are almost like Jerusalem used to be for the crusaders. It's the place, not the people currently living there, that matters.
Ironically, if the British invasions of Argentina in 1806-7 had been more successful, the whole country would have been a British colony and they'd all be speaking English now. [Post edited 16 Jul 11:37]

No, there's no personal animosity to British people when you go there. It's a wonderful country to travel around and Buenos Aires is one of my favourite cities. If you get the chance, go to a Boca Juniors game at La Bombonera. It has the best atmosphere of any stadium in the world.
