Ex Saint coach Callum McFarlane in charge at Chelses
by GRIM at 12:35 3 Jan 2026

Callum McFarlane who was our under 21 coach before he joined Chelsea to coach their under 21's.
He has now been promoted to coach Chelsea first team albeit probably only interim..
But that would suggest that Chelsea do rate highly to trust him with the first team after all of the big name coaches they have had.

Leicester are trying to sign him, he's now 34, but a big lump, so would make an excellent target man for us.

The fans' feelings
by Southamptonfan at 19:15 2 Jan 2026

I don't always listen to these, but I thinkntis sums up how we are all feeling. St Mary's will.become very toxic soon, once again like the Preston game, if we don't sort this.out now.

It's obvious now, the owners & the players don't want promotion.
by GRIM at 11:09 2 Jan 2026

The Owners have stated that we're not equipped to play in Premier lge & the players are afraid of getting promotion.
It has become obvious that when TE took over & our results picked up & we got within touching distance of the play offs that everybody took there foot off the gas.
Not because they thought they were good enough to get promoted but because they know they as a club & individually they are just not good enough for Premier Lge.
Many of our players were part if the team that took us down & they all struggled in the Premier lge.
They know that if they get promoted then they would probably get left out of the team or would be playing in a team that's likely to get hammered each week so they have decided its best to make sure that we don't get promoted.
Yes they'd be on more money but only for a season & they are not exactly on bad money playing in Championship.

Does not seem to get much of a mention but i think he is part of the problem with Wood and Stephens to our slow and predictable backwards and sideways football. Think we should go with Quasie alongside THB in the middle with Jander and Bragg in front of them, with two full backs and two attacking wide players. Yesterday I was at a loss to see how Manning was of any use, seemed to be stuck on the halfway line neither helping the defence or our attack?

What a turnaround for them with an experienced manager and a squad full of experienced players oh and an injured out of form arrogant striker who is now scoring for fun
It’s really not rocket science this game why do we end up with these managers who overthink it all the time
Pick you best experienced 11 and don’t be dropping or subbing your best players unless injured

Memo to Tonda :-Your Job is to win matches, not to rotate squads.
by saintmark1976 at 07:31 2 Jan 2026

Five games over the Christmas period producing just three points.

Yes, I expect that this morning the players will all be happy because they have each had game time and are not over stretched.

I’m equally sure they are all looking forward to the next opportunity of obtaining three points.

Far better to have “ gone for it “ and consistently played your best team ( if you know it ) from the outside, got a couple of wins and perhaps a draw by filling in the gaps when players receive knocks and minor injuries.

Tonda. It’s a result driven business and not about being the players best friend.

Tonda is starting to sound desperate
by Butty101 at 23:11 1 Jan 2026

Tonda Eckert: "I don't agree it was a rubbish game of football. We played a very good team that is well organised. It's not so easy to create chances after another. I think the quality of the game actually was good. We just need to be more ruthless."

No honesty
by robcoe5 at 21:11 1 Jan 2026

Manager is clueless, players show no passion on or off the pitch.surely the players can’t be happy playing slow uninteresting football, wouldn’t it be nice to hear a honest response from the players about what has changed from managers first 5 games to his last five games
Too much meddling with team selection like the past manager, first five we seemed to have a settled side with a positive approach,
I have been a season ticket holder for so many years going to home and away, recently stopped going to away games and now seriously thinking of not getting a season ticket next year unless things change. It not the fact of losing but I want to be entertained

by kingslandstand1 at 20:52 1 Jan 2026

The chant by the Northam after THB (I think it wa) had ballooned a clearance in the first half. Does that really help when positive support is probably needed?
I am all for moans, and to a degree the boos at the whole team at HT, but should that chants be aimed at individuals in your own team? Definitely at the opposition players but not our own
