 | News Comment | Southampton Sack Will Still at 08:41:31
Well done SR for acting decisively…I am pleased to be proven wrong! The focus now needs to be on staying up and clearing out the deadwood over the next two transfer windows. The one thing that Will Still has shown everyone (although most fans already knew this) is that our bloated squad lacks quality in so many key areas. Let’s hope the next manager realises this a bit quicker than Still did. |
 | News Comment | Southampton At Blackburn Rovers The Verdict at 11:38:36
Sports Republic out…every managerial appointment has been wrong, every decision to sack a manager has taken far too long, terrible track record when it comes to buying players. They are clearly out of their depth when it comes to owning an English football club. |
 | News Comment | Southampton At Bristol City The Verdict at 18:11:39
The squad is far too big. Too many average players. Difficult to know your best team when no one really stands out. McCarthy first choice keeper & Armstrong our best hope for a goal = massive recruitment failure. We need two or three windows to clear out the dead wood and slowly build with quality. Please please please don’t aim for promotion, we will get slaughtered, again! |
 | News Comment | Return To Southampton First Team Squad Down To Dibling Says Still at 09:01:27
He’s just a kid for Christ’s sake, give him a break. Yes he’s a professional, yes he’s paid a load of money to play football but how many supporters, when they were 19, would have been able to cope with this much pressure?? Give him space: if he goes, we get a big transfer fee, if stays he will have had time to clear his head and should then hit the ground running and rip up the championship |
 | News Comment | Southampton Make Offer For Bundesliga Striker at 11:52:29
The cynic in me says this is another striker we’ll be glad to see the back of in two years’ time, but I’m also willing to give him a chance and hope he hits the ground running… |
 | News Comment | Saints Linked To Kyle Walker Peters Replacement at 10:28:32
Don’t buy another average full-back, we need to learn the lessons from the last two seasons. We need to move away from having a bloated squad of players who are below-par for the prem (to put it kindly) and either buy real quality, use what we have, or use the loan market. |
 | News Comment | Can This Be The Dawning Of A New Era At Southampton FC at 14:15:35
I’d argue that RM was also the wrong man for the job and our strategy has been flawed even before Wilcox left. Yes he got us promoted, but we finished fourth with the second best squad and conceded far too many goals. This wasn’t the sort of preparation we needed for life in the prem. In my opinion, the best way to prepare for life in the prem is to make yourself very hard to score against and assemble a squad that will out-muscle, out-fight and out-run any other team. Keeping possession for the sake of it is fool hardy. |
 | News Comment | Southampton At Chelsea The Verdict at 13:43:06
Let’s not forget that Ivan Juric was behind Nathan Jones on our manager wish list. The fact that either (let alone both) were on that list proves the incompetence of the current management team at SR. I dread to think who is still on that list and was behind Jones and Juric, probably the guy who manages the trains… |
 | News Comment | Shea Charles Could Be About To Cross The Sheffield Footballing Divide at 08:31:03
I agree with the comments above, we should keep him and start him. It would be great prem experience for him with no pressure as we are certain to be relegated anyway. Personally I’d play 4-2-3-1 and make him one of two holding midfielders to shield our poor defence |
 | News Comment | Do Southampton Cut Their Losses Now On This Season And Cash In On Kyle Walker Peters at 19:24:37
Sell now, take the money. Please SR don’t make anymore panic buys in the winter window. Focus on having a good clear out of the deadwood, write off this season. Sell, sell, sell We don’t want another July/August where the manager has no idea who will still be with us at the end of the summer window, so get rid of them all now. |
 | News Comment | Southampton At Arsenal The Verdict at 13:51:29
Goals against were always gonna be our downfall this season and it doesn’t matter whether we play three, four or five at the back the outcome is the same because we aren’t good enough to play it out from the back. I don’t like to see managers sacked but RM has proven this season and last that he is unable or unwilling to play pragmatic football therefore he needs to go now before we waste any more winnable games. |
 | News Comment | Southampton At Bournemouth The Verdict at 10:27:04
That team selection last night was a cry for help. The board need to put him out of his misery, he’s out of his depth, inflexible and getting more and more desperate. Conceding goals has always been an issue for RM’s teams, and a newly promoted team is never gonna out score the opposition on enough occasions to get to 40 points. He needed to build solid foundations over the summer, instead we have champ level centre backs, so it’s inevitable we get the same old shit show every week… |
