Ruben Selles ! A Good Man In The Wrong Place At The Wrong Time
at 11:55:14

I don’t like the idea of going back, but maybe someone like Nigel Adkins as Director of Football, with a bright upcoming manager to coach the players.NA always had a very calming, but realistic view on things, he also had experience to get clubs promoted. I know he didn’t have much success after he left us, but get rid of the deadwood, and look for players who realise what is needed and actually want to play for the club. There seems to have been too many this season who were quite happy to turn up, play a half hearted game and collect their undeserved and obscene salaries.

Southampton Players Praise Calmness And Leadership Of Ruben Selles
at 11:40:57

Thought Sellés looked very smart, good to see a manager/coach not wearing the normal uniform of tracksuit, trainers and baseball cap. Ralph varied his outfit, sometimes smart and sometimes more casual. Can remember the days of Ted Bates- always very smart in suit and tie, and his overcoat when it was cold!

Southampton V Nottingham Forest The Verdict
at 11:40:16

After the Brighton game, I posted that the game was dire, this one was even worse, probably the worst I’ve seen in 61 years of supporting them. Despite Jones saying that “it’s not of my making”, IT IS! if he felt he wasn’t up to the job, then he should have refused the offer. Ralph had a lot of problems, but I always felt that with the right players, in the right formation, then he would do a decent job. I was excited when Sports Republic bought the club, I felt that the dreary days of the last few years were behind us. How wrong could I be! By letting us get relegated and asset strip, in order to get a return on their investment, do they not realise that when they eventually come to sell our beloved club, they will not get anywhere near the sum that they paid for it? Sad days ahead yet again.

Southampton V Brighton The Verdict
at 12:03:19

That was not poor- it was absolutely dire! The players look totally unfit, uninterested and not sure where they are supposed to be playing. I hate to say it, because I don’t particularly like his style, but we needed a manager like Sean Dyche. Offer him a contract and bonus similar to the one we offered Hughes, and get us safe as soon as possible. We have got a few players with some promise, but their confidence is rock bottom, and if it’s not sorted quickly, then I can see us rooted to the bottom until the end of the season, possibly without any wins.

Jan Bednarek Stresses Importance Of Sitting On A Bigger Bench
at 13:47:25

Can I add us beating the “bigger club” in May 2015, when one of our players at the time scored a hat trick in record time! Obviously part of their history that he’s forgotten about.

Southampton Legend David Armstrong Mourned By Saints Fans.
at 12:40:35

Such a sad loss. Again, one of those players who grafted for a whole game, and when he was out injured, you suddenly realised how much he was missed. If he had played now, pundits would have been drooling over his skills. RIP Dave 🔴⚪️🔴⚪️

Liverpool Raid Southampton For Defender
at 14:00:36

Saw a few comments yesterday saying how we have messed up again, we release him, and Scousepoool sign him. Maybe we have, but also we may not know the whole story- Did he have the “Obafemi” attitude, or worse, modelled himself on Lemina. Only time will tell!

Matthew Le Tissier Speaks Out About His Beliefs
at 14:02:36

Matt obviously hasn’t realised that the world is changing, and whereas in the past, you could make comments, which although could be offensive to some, were perfectly acceptable to most. These days, we are not allowed to air our views in public, whether it is applicable to politics, race or sexual orientation. Would I know if my neighbour was a member of a banned organisation? No! And as long as it doesn’t affect me or my loved ones, I am not going to be concerned with it. As others have said, Matt was an exceptional footballer, and maybe if he had been from a bigger club than us, then his time at Sky may not have been curtailed.

Saints Fan In Court Charged With Optimism !
at 12:09:27

Very good Nick, if you keep your tongue firmly in your cheek! You forget the last charge for the said fan- that is acknowledging that to buy a Championship player for a low fee and suggesting that he might turn out to be a reasonable player, rather than bankrupt the club by buying a 30 years old Premiership player or hasbeen for £50 million.

I also note that he is only 5’ 7, are we looking at shorter players for some reason, we are lacking taller defenders, are we going to have a totally “vertically challenged” team?

My 50th Year Anniversary Of Watching Saints Today
at 08:41:15

Shows that we’re all getting old Nick! I will be soon at 60 years supporting our beloved team. My first match was 3rd March 1962, at the age of 9, we played Scunthorpe and won 6-4. Can’t remember too much, other than the great Terry Paine scored 2, and Derek Reeves and George O’Brien scored one each. I suppose it shows that we must be true fans, not the “plastics” who flit back and forth to whoever is the top team at the time! Happy Days!

Time For Saints Supporters To Put The Past Behind Us And Look To The Future
at 12:33:06

Underweststand- I wholeheartedly agree with you. I think we all have been waiting for yesterday to come, maybe Mr Solak won’t write out huge cheques, but I hope that, as he has said, we become an important cornerstone in his project. I also think that some people have become very impatient about who was going to buy the club, but Martin Semmens does seem to be genuine, and I believe that we have got a decent deal, under his guidance, and we will benefit from being patient.

Is Stuart Armstrong Heading Out Of St Mary's
at 15:14:47

My understanding is that his family are still in Scotland, and his visits home have been curtailed considerably by Covid. This may be where the “homesickness “ has developed from, if so perhaps we should all think about how we would feel in the same situation. Is this where the link with Celtic/Ryan Christie has come from?

Six Southampton Players Could Be Missing For The Trip To Anfield
at 13:52:09

Totally agree WSS- when I saw the headline, I thought “Oh s**t, not again”. I appreciate that it’s tempting fate, but if they can put in a similar performance to last Friday, throughout the whole team, then at least one point is not unachievable, and if Liverpool have one of their recent matches, then 3 points is a possibility.

West Brom Defeat Relieves Pressure On Southampton This Weekend
at 11:38:56

Nick, you say that we need to beat Fulham- Yes, I agree, but will we beat Fulham? Based on our last 3 performances, that is not a foregone conclusion. You also say that Fulham have a tough task- agreed, but with 3 matches against Burnley, us and Newcastle, they could realistically get 3 wins. I think (and sincerely hope!) that we will survive, but this is something we should be able to do ourselves, not holding our breath and relying on others misfortunes.

Ralph Hasenhuttl Planning At Least Another Three Years At Southampton
at 13:42:40

If Ralph had the same money at his disposal as the bigger clubs have, then I am sure that he would have put it to much better use. Mourinho has umpteen millions more available to him, but they can only manage to get on the peripherals of “The Big Six.” Hopefully we will be sold to somebody who is prepared to loosen the purse strings, if only by a small amount.

Despite Fan's Uproar Southampton's January Transfer Window Is Reasonable
at 12:29:11

Although we really did need a cover at FB, I think the overall financial affect of the pandemic is the reason behind most clubs’ actions. A year without fans on the terraces will cripple most clubs- with the exception of a few. Even big clubs abroad like Barcelona have serious financial issues, and a possible liquidity problem if they don’t find nearly £250 million over the next couple of months. Sadly, this is not going to be something which goes away quickly, even if fans are back for next season, and I am glad that we have prudence within the club. We have seen several clubs struggle for a long time due to overspending in the past, and I think there may be several more, before normality returns.
