It was pretty much what I expected when I got out there.
Though I had some sympathy for the hydration breaks when I was in Miami.
The heat and humidity were really stifling.
The World Cup has however fallen behind the Euros in terms of excitement and atmosphere.
I watched 20 minutes of the Final, and the atmosphere sounded non-existent. £3,500 for the cheapest ticket will see to that. |

I see the Skates have sold out their 9,000 allocation for their Cup game at West Ham.
£10 a ticket will have helped (stupid Hammers) and think it may be their first game of playing there.
Either way, trains for Colchester possibly best avoided. |

Sounds to me that a loan signing might be the best bet here.
Make the player hungry to get a permanent move.

I think that there are some very passionate fans of French clubs, such as PSG and Marseille.
But they are largely unfussed about their national side, and certainly don't travel in big numbers to support them away.
Similarly Spain.
I think England has phenomenal support for its national team. The crowds we get for home games are pretty much unmatched across the world, particularly against crap teams. [Post edited 14 Jul 16:53]

Amazed that Scott Mills was on so much.
Of course, the real big earners, such as Graham Norton and Fiona Bruce, are paid through limited companies, which is highly debatable in terms of being legal from an HMRC perspective.
Particularly in the case of the utterly detestable Fiona Bruce, who only seems to work for the BBC, so I have no idea how she gets away with it. [Post edited 14 Jul 14:37]

$1,000 is a ridiculous amount in tips for a weekend.
I don’t mind tipping for good service, but there seems to be a sense of entitlement out there which is wholly wrong. |

Guaranteed trouble in the stands.
No segregation due to FIFA’s policy of selling to the highest bidder.
Very little stewarding that I could see in Miami on Saturday, when there were plenty of Mexicans and Argentinians in the ground cheering on Norway. If we had lost, it would have turned nasty.
Argentina will have three-quarters of the support (or more) in the ground, and there is genuine hatred between the two sets of fans.
Infantino will blame the England fans after the game, but it will be the Argentinians starting the trouble. [Post edited 13 Jul 20:08]

But Archer was playing in a team which would have dominated the ball a lot more, and surely therefore created a lot more chances.
