They managed to hold out till the close of play, a last wicket stand so far of 61 in just over 8 overs. 325 is at least something to defend and we might add a few more in the morning |
 | Forum Thread | 2,000 tickets left For Birmingham Game at 11:32 4 Dec 2025
Two years ago the crowd for this fixture played on 28th October was 28,924 and a capacity crowd these days seems to be just touching 31,000, we seem to be likely to get just above that attendance this season, assuming that Birmingham have sold out their 3,000 |

No Van Dijk went on the 1st January, we had already removed him from the first team squad after his final game on Wednesday 13th December in a 4-1 home defeat against Leicester and his impending departure to Liverpool was announced in the week leading up to Xmas |

The total number of page hits in November was the 3rd biggest total since January 2018, just goes to show that a bit of instability in the managerial department stirs people up. |
 | Forum Thread | Fireworks Get Game Abandoned Part 2 at 13:37 2 Dec 2025
On a happy note, at the Ajax game that was abandoned there was a terminally ill Ajax fan who was there to watch his last game and watched it from a hospital bed at pitch side. Obviously he didn't see much as the game was bandoned after 5 minutes, but Ajax have got permission for him to be the only supporter in the stadium when it is replayed behind closed doors today

A match was abandoned in the eEidivisie in Holland yesterday due to excessive fireworks Ajav V FC Groningen was stopped after 5 minutes due to the prrotechnics, it was re started after a 45 minute break, but then abandoned after the pyrotechnics kicked off again, apparently the 3rd game Ajax have had abandoned due to this in the last 2 years https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/c75v7962722o |

We were all at sea for that 3rd goal, decent cross to someone unmarked at the back post, if anyone could be blamed it is THB who should have cleared it off the line and not sliced it into his own net |
 | Forum Thread | 5 Things About Millwall at 09:40 1 Dec 2025
1. I bought my dearest pint ever in a pub by London Bridge, £8.40 for a pint of Camden Hells, I had a pint of Budvar next that was £8.50, criminal price, the Market Porter in Borough Market was charging £7.20 for Camden Hells, so pure profiteering . 2. On a brighter note as I was talking to someone as the second half kicked off, one of the staff in the refreshment kiosk came over and said would you all like a free pint, as they had some already poured left over, so that was pleasing, it did mean though I watched our first goal on the TV screen 3. Although there were a lot of police, it seems that they are far happier these days to let fans mingle on the tube between the ground and London Bridge, there wasn't any trouble, but in the past this would have been unthinkable 4. One day Ill do that Bermondsey Beer mile thing, rather than London Bridge, at least you will get a decent overpriced pint, rather than the Manchester or Burton brewed beers Heineken, Birra Moretti & Cruzcampo etc in most pubs these days. 5. One defeat doesn't mean a lot in the grand scale of things |
 | Forum Reply | Eckert said Aribo was excellent at 09:23 1 Dec 2025
One of the golden rules of being a football manager is that you don't slag off your own players in public, that is how you lose the confidence in the dressing room, in public you stick up for your players, as has been said elsewhere when asked a question you stick up for him. The problem is that too many people are looking for an angle to blame Sport Republic/The Club whichever for every situation. The suggestion that Eckert is told what to say by the Club is laughable, firstly the club have no idea what will be asked at a press conference after a game, said conference is about 30 minutes after the final whistle and the questions come thick and fast, Eckert will have left the dressing room to go straight to the conference. This question and answer was short and sweet. "Is Aribo fully fit and fully sharp having had no pre-season?" "TE: I am very happy with Joe. He has been excellent every time he has come on, and he is in very good shape." Throwaway question with a throwaway answer, I didn't think Aribo played well, but that doesn't mean I am right, and what Eckert said is exactly what I would expect him to say, Eckert isn't picking his words he is just giving the stock reply from a manager, all managers to be exact except for the odd blow up sometimes. To also suggest that he has been told to say that so we can sell him in the transfer window is ludicrous, clubs buy players after multiple scouting reports and watching videos of them in action, they do not base it on managers comments from the selling club saying he is excellent every game. Aribo has come on and done well this season, Saturday was not one of those games, it wasn't as if he was surrounded by those that were doing much better, there doesn't have to be a Sport Republic conspiracy theory for everything that surround Southampton FC |
 | Forum Thread | Best Southampton Foreign XI at 08:58 28 Nov 2025
Who would you have as your best ever Saints team but only foreign players allowed, I am guessing everyone would have Antti Niemi in goal, but who would be in after that. As an older fan I would have Ivan Golac in there at right back and although not a popular man at St Mary's Virgil Van Dijk in the centre |

 | Forum Reply | Top 3 players for whom it would be a big problem if they got injured now at 11:42 27 Nov 2025
A few weeks ago we were be moaning the losses to injury of Ross Stewart & Shea Charles and saying this was going to be a big problem but it hasn't turned out that way. If Armstrong was injured that would be a problem as there is no one else currently fit that could fit into our way of playing, however Stewart must be nearing fitness Scienza is in a fine run of form, but we have plenty of other wide options so it would be a blow but not a problem. Jander is the one that we can deal with without a problem, if he was to be injured now we still have Flynn Downs, Cameron Bragg & Oriol Romeu and Shea Charles should be fit in the next few weeks. |
