The best news! Daniel is a legend in the making and maybe this will encourage other key players to commit to the club. The siege mentality is kicking in.
Out of interest who do you think has the moral high ground in football? I'd say nobody because players of every club cheat in every match. Until attempts are made to eliminate this by the FA, the EFL and the clubs themselves what we are seeing and hearing is mass hypocracy. There is zero integrity in football therefore no moral high ground to stand on or high horses to sit on.
So we spied on Oxford in December and still put in that shit show and this is the consequence. Unbelievable. The danger if we appeal is that the EFL will likely increase the points deduction.
So Will Salt is spotted. I get that. What I don't get is how they immediately identify him as a spy rather than some random geezer who has spotted some footballers training and decides he wants to take a photo with his phone. They must get dozens of people stopping and watching and some probably even take photos. What immediately identified our bloke as a spy?
It's a quiet news day for the journos. Nothing new coming out of spygate so they have to invent something for clickbait. Today the Times journo has decided to fill his column with a story stating the bleeding obvious - in other words 'Tonda Eckert could face a ban'
So in theory you shouldn't support Saints because we have players who regularly dive which is a massive form of cheating - Leo springs to mind. Cheating is cheating in whatever form.
I'm assuming this story has credibility because otherwise we'd be shouting our innocence from the rooftops by now - it wouldn't take long to talk to the first team analyst. If it does turn out to be true it's very shoddy because a) we are exposed to a charge which will carry quite major consequences if we are found guilty and b) it is an unwelcome distraction in our preparation for two crucial games. Fans may try to play this down and claim it is mind games on the part of Boro but it is unlikely they'd have made the official complaint unless they were very sure they have a case. My guess is that nothing good will come out of this for us and Boro will use it as another way to motivate their players and fans. I guess we could claim the guy was acting without club authority and sack him - might be the least painful option but the whole thing is a mess.
In some eyes we've suddenly gone from the team with momentum that nobody will want to face in the play-offs to a completely shattered side that can barely put one foot in front of the other. This is on the basis of two home draws against a good Bristol City side and a very good Ipswich side (we could easily have won both games) plus a narrow loss to Man City in a semi final at Wembley. We are in great shape. Downes will be back for the play-offs and we really missed him against City and Ipswich. Stephens may be back. Tonda will have us fired up and will have plans for the remaining 3 or 4 games. Not time for all this panic and doom mongering.
