Hilaire Belloc famously said “Englishmen, drown your sorrows, for when you lose your inns, you lose the last of England”. Or approximately. Pubs have been here for well over a thousand years. Even in a big place like London there are areas where you can walk around for ages and not see a pub. Near us I would cite East Acton and large parts of Fulham. Thankfully, Hammersmith, despite losing some has plenty to offer. Or so I'm told. I don't go in them myself.
Horrible rumours on the rumour mill it may be closing. No !! That would be a loss. When Bedford Jezzard ran it, I used to tell folk that he sold us Rodney Marsh when he was Fulham manager. Not true, that was later. Anyone know anything ?
To those of us bought up watching Dick of Doxon Green and thinking of your local bobby giving you a clip around the ear'ole and telling you to bugger off, it's upsetting to think of the force not being not what it should be. That said, I'd be lucky to last five minutes in that job. I dunno really, they obviously should be taken to task
That was the most despondent I've been after a match for quite a while. I really thought we'd give them a pasting. I felt like a duck in a drought after the game.
Arranged to meet an old workmate over from Ireland for a drink where he's staying in West Kensington. Neither of us knew Cheslea were at home so not an experience for the faint hearted. There's no Sunday parking here but amazed to see Cheslea fans parking on the pavement. Surely not allowed ?
