I agree with DorsetIan. We are winning football matches at last and that's what counts. There should be no hurry to stop the winning run, just because the manager and his team selection don't accord with various fans' prejudices. When we're losing, not winning, is the time to change. There are always plenty of unemployed managers out there in need of job, but you never know whether they'll win games here until after they arrive. I haven't felt happier at St Mary's for a long time than after our first back-to-back wins in more than 550 days. Let's see if we can extend this winning run. |
 | News Comment | Southampton At Queens Park Rangers The Verdict at 13:19:36
Anyone who wants McCarthy back in goal on Saturday must hate seeing us win games because with him in goal we have won just 1 regular season game at St Mary's in the last FOUR YEARS. |

Cheikh Sabaly is 5' 6". Just what we don't need: another small player. We already get beaten to nearly every high ball. Take a look at the current Championship league table after looking at this. If only Johannes Spors knew how to do something like that: Tallest Championship Teams (2025/26) Rank Team Approx. Avg Height 1️⃣ Coventry City 185 cm (6'1") 2️⃣ Millwall 185 cm (6'1") 3️⃣ Stoke City 184.8 cm (6'0.8") 4️⃣ Middlesbrough 184.5 cm (6'0.7") 5️⃣ Bristol City 184.3 cm (6'0.6") |

Not another winger! We had 4 players trying to play on the wing in our last game and no centre forward for them to pass the ball too. If this is true, Spors needs to be sacked. Anybody with an ounce of common sense knows we need a centre forward and a goalkeeper, not another winger. |
 | News Comment | Southampton At Blackburn Rovers The Verdict at 09:55:23
"Alex McCarthy seems to have developed a goalkeeping style that does not involve using his hands" lol He is one of the worst professional goalkeepers I have ever seen. His reflexes are slow, his positioning is terrible and, above all, he lacks the bravery required to be a goalkeeper. It's no surprise he has cost us countless points over they years. We probably would have won and at least drawn this game and many others if we'd had even an average Championship goalkeeper. |
 | News Comment | Juventus Said To Be Interested In Southampton Sporting Director at 22:16:03
Newcastle were 'said to be interested in him' before he turned up here. Maybe his agent is trying to dupe a Serie B club into taking him now. It's not something Juventus would publicise. We should start a rumour that Man City are said to be interested in Damion Downs. |
 | News Comment | Southampton Sign Goalkeeper at 18:55:18
Just when you thought Sport Republic's recruitment couldn't get any worse, they go and siign the worst goalkeeper in professional football. These comments from Norwich fans sum up just how bad he is: "George Long The worst keeper I’ve ever seen in yellow and green" "Beyond inept. He's clearly way out of his depth." "Never want to see him in a Norwich shirt again," "He wouldn't have made sub in my under 10's team" |
 | News Comment | Bazunu Faces Uncertain Saints Future Even After Man Of The Match Performance at 11:54:24
McCarthy has shown how bad he is over many years and he's getting worse. We really need to get rid of him now. We can't take the risk him playing for us ever again. Bazunu is much younger and in this pre-season there is evidence that, even though he has previously looked almost as bad as McCarthy, he's improving. So, I'd keep Bazunu as backup, but we need a reliable first choice goalkeeper. Ramsdale is ideal, but if he's sold, we'll need to buy a replacement. |
 | News Comment | Southampton Publish Retained List at 19:29:59
BigbadBarry, the release of McCarthy and Smallbone would have an impact: a huge sense of relief that we'd finally got rid of them. |
 | News Comment | Southampton V Manchester City The Verdict at 11:22:49
Great defensive organisation, team work and fighting spirit. That photo of Stephens and Bednarek stopping Haaland sums it up. Whenever a City player threatened to break through, 2 Saints players immediately blocked him. They did it to Doku about 20 times and, try as he might, De Bruyne could never find an unmarked City forward in Saints' penalty area. Saints' fans played their part too, roaring the team on. |
