A few tips for the trip to the East Midlands

Although we have travelled to Derby County's Pride Park many times since it was opened in 1997, its been just over three years since our last trip when less than a thousand Saints supporters made the trek to the Midlands to see Jan Poortvliet's team gain a well eanned win, only 18 months earlier around 5,000 had made the trip for an evening play off game.

The Stadium

Saints fans will be situated in the South Stand Corner, similar to St Mary's away section in terms of both location in the ground and view.

Getting There.

By Car

The recomended route is to take the A34 North and then your preferred route to the M1, keep going North till Junction 25, there take the A52 signposted Derby and after around 7 miles the stadium is well signposted.

Alternatively you can exit the M1 at Junction 24A and take the A50 Westwards , at Junction 2 take the A6 into Derby, this route goes directly to the ground and is better for parking and pubs.

By Train

The ground is around a ten minute walk from Derby station and is well signposted as you would expect for a new(ish) stadium.

Paking.

The spaces at the ground are all allocated and there is little street parking around the ground, although if you take the A6 route there is some parking around a ten minute walk away, likewise at Derby Conference Centre on the A6 again about a ten minute walk.

Eating & Drinking Etc.

Alcohol is available in the ground along with the usual fare, in the vicinity of the stadium unless you go towards the town there are few drinking establishments within a ten minute walk.

One exception is the "Navigation" on the A6 route, this is usually an away supporter pub of choice due to its proximity to a main route in and out of the City and the fact there is some parking to be had nearby, either on the street or the Conference centre, however if Saints take a big following as expected this pub is likely to get very crowded, it has a big beer garden at the rear, but it might be a bit cold.
