Broomes joins on trial

Dale's squad was boosted with the presence on Saturday of Marlon Broomes who has joined the club on trial after being released by Blackpool earlier this Summer.

Broomes was given twenty minutes late in the game against Everton on Saturday, when he came off the bench to replace Craig Dawson.

Broomes is a 31 year old central defender who has spent his entire career playing at a higher level. It started for Broomes like Dale boss Keith Hill at Blackburn Rovers before playing for the likes of Stoke, Sheffield Wednesday, Preston, and Blackpool, as well as loan spells at Grimsby, Swindon, QPR and most recently at Crewe Ale.

During his earlier days, he played for England U-21s but has been without a club since leaving the Seasiders in May 2009. He has been linked with a move to Walsall in recent days and had been expected to sign a deal with the Saddlers.
