French midfielder Cheick Kourouma is likely to be in a Blues reserves side in action at AFC Sudbury this evening (KO 7.45pm). The 20-year-old is still to formalise his move to Town due to red tape relating to his former clubs.

Jewell says that although not many first teamers will be involved, he and his staff will be present and he takes the club’s role in Suffolk’s wider footballing community seriously: “It won’t be a first team, there’ll be the likes of Cheick Kourouma, some young players, Nathan Ellington might play, Ronan Murray, people like that, but there won’t be many senior players starting.

“We’ll all be there at the match to watch it and support the players, and AFC Sudbury as well because it’s important that as the main football club in the area we’re seen to support the local football.

“That’s one of the reasons we’ve entered the Suffolk Premier Cup and they’re always good tests.”

Town drew Walsham-le-Willows at home in the first round of the Premier Cup with the details of the game yet to be set.

Meanwhile, what’s likely to be a very young Town U18 side is in action against Leyton Orient in a pre-season friendly at Playford Road this afternoon (KO 2pm).

Academy schoolboy Cemal Ramadan, a striker, has been called into the FAI U16 Emerging Talent squad for next week's Umbro Galway Cup. The Irish youngsters will face Aberdeen, Dynamo Moscow and Oslo side VÃ¥lerenga in the group stages.
