Karl Connolly Signs For The Swans

Connolly Signs For Swansea

The Swans lined up at the Vetch Field today for their annual photo shoot (click here for the pictures) with Connolly proudly displaying on the back of the new shirt for the season his name and number.

Fellow trialists Andy Robinson and Keiron Durkan also lined up for the photo opportunity but neither had their own shirt fuelling speculation that contracts may not be on offer for this pair.

Connolly though is a valuable addition to the squad for the new season and whilst no official announcement has been made on his signing, there can now be little doubt that we have a new Jack amongst the existing ones.

A notable absentee from the afternoon though was club captain Jason Smith who was not present and the Evening Post have today reported that he may miss the first two months of the new season through his injury.

There appeared to be an excellent spirit amongst the camp this afternoon with the players in good spirit ahead of the new season and a definite confident atmosphere about the place. And with the 18th squad member now in place, we have further options in attack for the new season. I expect to see Connolly make his full first team debut against Bury on Saturday, probably on the left wing.

Further news from the day was that the limp that was affecting Lee Jenkins last night appeared to be cleared up now and he looks as if he could well be fit for Saturday giving Brian Flynn a nearly fully fit squad to choose from.

Roll on!
