Rochdale v Swansea - Match Preview

ROCHDALE v SWANSEA - MATCH PREVIEW

Six short months ago the Swans played what was arguably the most important away match in the clubs history at Spotland. The Swans came away with a crucial victory that day and the rest is history. Although there isn't as much riding on Saturday's result, an away win for the jacks will help to ease the pain of Tuesday night's defeat at the hands of Cambridge.

After a week of bad news on the injury front, with both Lee Trundle and Brad Maylett expected to be out for 6/8 weeks, Brian Flynn has once again been forced to dip into the loan market. Flynn's close relationship with Sir Alex Ferguson has once again paid dividends as we welcome Man Utd reserve striker Daniel Nardiello to the Swansea squad. As if that wasn't enough, it's also a big "Welcome home" to defender Alan Tate who was so instrumental in last years "Great escape" Both players go straight into the squad for Saturday's clash with Rochdale and both are expected to play.

Rochdale boss Alan Buckley has a few injury worries of his own, with doubts over Paul Connor and Sean McClare. Striker Kevin Townson is also in the squad, but Republic of Ireland U-19 international Rory Patterson may get the nod ahead of Rochdales leading scorer after replacing Townson during Tuesday night's away defeat at Doncaster.

So with no let up in the Swans injury crisis and Flynn once again looking to his young loan signings to do the "business", what can we expect come 4.50pm on Saturday afternoon? As we all know, a defeat wouldn't be a disaster. But we need to rediscover our early season form again soon, before we start to lose touch with the top three.
