Brian Flynn - The Arguments For And Against?

Flynn - The Arguments For And Against

Reeco Posted on 18/1 15:43Email this Message | The Bottom Line Is Whether You Like It Or Not

Hi All, I have some of the postings from a lot of Swans Fans and I understand that some are Pro Flynn and some are Anti Flynn. The argument of look where we come from last season is not even a point for debate, it's history, discussing what happened last season when James Thomas helped us secure a place in the football league along with all the other players who gave us their all in the last game of the season Vs Hull. To be honest with everyone it's simple, Football is a result orientated business, I don't care if Jesus Christ is the manager of the Swans, it's all about results. Should a manager have a click of players, it should be if you play badly you are dropped. Why would a manager play a player who has no pace, has no tricks and all he has to offer is a decent cross when given time to do so. If a manager sticks with a system that clearly doesn't work why is it that one man and his dog can see it and he can't. Can a manager apply his tactical knowledge in a game to get a result, especially coming from behind. Why would management take tactical help from a player and accept what they are saying is spot on. Can a manager motivate his players day in day out, to do this, all of the squad have to hold him in high regard or respect him. Training, if a player can't train 4 to 5 days a week 3 or 4 hours a day because of his age, then seriously it's time he left The Swans and played semi pro and not get his manager to cuddle him. I have to say that Flynny has brought some quality players to The Vetch and we do owe him a debt of gratitude for that. He has also brought some players who couldn't kick a tin if their life depended on it. Personally I think Flynny should not be the 1st team manager, I think he should over see football within this club as the director of football Maybe we shouldn't get rid of Flynn now but ask your self honestly, is he the man you want to manage this club in this division or higher ? All of the fans have seen Flynnys weekness's Gaffer No Director of Football yes definately. This is not a call to get Flynn sacked just my personal opinion. If you can give me some answers, I would be very grateful and let the debate commence. ATB. Reeco

Flynn out, jesus! 1. 'Flynn didn't keep us up, Thomas did' that is a quote from tw!t No.1 (change to i or a as you like). Flynn managed to revamp a team and get in the players needed, anyone remember the team that started last year and compare it against the team that finished the year. 2. We are not RICH. Flynn has a tight budget to get players, the board, THANK GOD, has memories of Swans almost going out of business. Flynn has managed to attract TRUNDLE, BRITTON, MARTINEZ, IZZY, ROBINSON who are all class players, also players who still have something to prove in MAYLETT, HYLTON and MURPHY. AND YES some who are mistakes DURKIN and COATES! We cannot just 'buy' players when we have no money and we can't just pay off contracts of players who are mistakes. 3. Injuries!!!!!!! For most of he season we have been crippled by injuries, can anyone else recollect this or is it only me! Some of the players now are still recovering and not fully fit, Martinez and Maylett from yesterdays game. Durkin I would imagine was always a back-up for Maylett and blimey hasn't he been used. 4. 'Didn't get a replacement for Martinez', quote from tw!t No.2. Another one where I seem to have a different memory from other people, didn't a million plus player come here and left when it first looked like Martinez was returning. OK Wilson didn't really work out but to me that was a bloody good effort to replace the irreplacable. 5. We need players now brigade, so many times I have read the panic on this board to be followed by a signing, Izzy is one that comes to mind. Some may think that Flynn reads this board and got Izzy in straight away to placate fans, I, on the other hand believe that he had been working on Izzy in the background for weeks. Most managers don't talk too much about potential signings before hand, Bobby Robson for example. 6.Flynn talks up the team and chances when the players are not good enough is another. Forgive me, we don't know what he's saying to the players in the background, all mangaers talk up the team to the press, Ferguson and Wenger anyone. There are some valid comments about tactics not changing, but Flynn is playing to a system he know's he only needs the right players and I feel he's building towards this. The team is disrupted virtually every week through injuries and suspensions and morale is low, even lower if players read the dribble on this board. Reading reports I seem to believe that he's looking at players to bring in to push for the end of the season, new players will lift the club and bring a fresh impedous, but he has to bring in the right players, last year he did a fantastic job on this front, we don't know what he'll manage this year yet! on his record I would hope we will see some quality signings. Change of manager, WE DO NOT NEED THIS, for god sake, SUPPORT THE TEAM and SUPPORT THE MANAGER!!!!!!!!!

UnderTheArm65 Posted on 17/1 21:22Email this Message | Are you Hollins in disguise ?

Just a sample of his (Flynn/Hollins - take your pick) Teams come here organised and attempt to stop us playing - That's not very considerate of them, is it. We have the best squad in the division - I'd be interested to know to which division he is referring. We have 19 games left - automatic promotion is still within our reach. - If we reproduce the form of our last 19 games, or even last 6, last 10, then we will finish in mid-table. Although by no means a Flynn fan, and one who does not see him as the man to take us forward as First team Manager/Coach, I am a little surprised at the apparent sudden increase in his detractors this week. He is the same manager that we have had for 15 months (?) and his intransigence, prevarication and slowness to react have been there all that time. The exploits of Trundle in particular have glossed over our several weaknesses which have been there all season, and we are probably now sitting in our rightful position with the squad that we have. I see no advantage in getting rid of Flynn at this time, but personally I also do not see him as the man to lead us to our stated aim of First division football - I honestly feel that he is best suited to a role where he does not have control over first team matters.

just 1 point to remember- you are all talking B£ll£cks. This is the guy who has kept league football available for you b@st£rds to moan about this season- oh how little minds forget the GREAT ESCAPE OF LAST SEASON!!! Give the guy a break for gods sake he lost Smith due to retirement from injury, Martinez had a bad injury as well as the other injuries this season I for one would have settled for the position we are in now this time last season REMEMBER we were a team 20th of the 3rd division last season and could quite as easy be where poor Carilsle are now hadn't it been for a few prudent signings in pre season. Afew more quaility players will come in over the next few weeks and the final 15-20 game hurdle will be a different matter JUST HAVE PATIENCE - at least we did'nt loose today and we are still in the F.A Cup for gods sake and even if we don't go up this season what with the cup run, high home attendances, presumably some coffers in from the sale of Duffy to Pompey and the youth team player to Man City- next season will be all to play for and also don't forget continuity can only help us further Sorry but Rant Over
