Pre-Season Guide To...Wycombe Wanderers

2004/2005 Preview - Wycombe Wanderers

LAST SEASON

Tony Adams could not save Wycombe from relegation from the second division last time around as they slipped through the trap door to the basement.

WHAT HAVE THEY BEEN UP TO THIS SUMMER?

Going out of Adams Park this summer have been some well known names from their FA Cup Run of 2001. Michael Simpson, Dabbie Bulman and Chris Vinnicombe have all been released together with Scott Marshall, Darren Currie and Steve Brown.

In in their place are Ian Stonebridge from Plyrmouth, Shahed Ahmed from MK Dons, Reported Swansea targate Clint Easton, Joe Burnell and Gus Uhlenbeek. Gary Silk and Mike Williamson have both signed on loan, the latter for the whole season.

WHO ARE THEIR FAMOUS FANS?

Sky commentator Alan Parry is probably their most famous fan although he is joined by actor Warren Clarke, BBC Newsreader Bill Turnbull and This Morning Chef Bill Turnbull.

5 THINGS THE LOCALS SAY ABOUT WYCOMBE

  1. "Hang out in Wycombe at your own risk. If you are a student in Halls in town; stay out of the car park opposite, especially if you are female. You are fairly safe on the Rye, in summer you can almost enjoy Wycombe here. Wycombe in essence is a truly awful desperate place."

  2. "Well i think the council are actually making an effort to tart up the town centre, shame that this means they completely ignore what state the rest of the town is in. A lot of the council estates in Wycombe are really old and were built in the 1920's and 1930's. This means that that they are literally falling down as some of the residents just don't give a shit and they haven't been done up since they were built. The same goes for the Victorian slums in Desborough etc."

  3. "The SuperChad is possible the most depressing place but has still supplied the greatest nights in living History! Where else can you go and be the oldest at 22, and half of Wycombe is barred. Mohammed and the £10 taxi's for a five minute walk make the going home experience all that more magnificent. That's obviously after you contract all manner of diseases from John's Kebab trolley. The Orchard is simply rock and roll."

  4. "Anyone with any money lives in Penn or Beaconsfield. Howard Jones and Judy Boucher those giants of the pop world have the dubious claim of being ex residents."

  5. "High Wycombe is absolutely shit for eating. Me and my mate have this problem every day. We have exhausted every possibility of eating somewhere decent in High Wycombe. We don't want to eat in McDonalds or burger king. Everywhere else sells crap, over priced food. And the only half decent place is subway. But I'm sick of that now."

ARE WE ANY GOOD AGAINST WYCOMBE?

WHAT ARE THEIR CHANCES NEXT SEASON?

Pretty busy summer at Adams Park and it is hard to believe that Wycombe have the ability to bounce straight back - mid table for them.
