3-5-2? On The Other Hand.....

We've gone 3 games without a win but taken 2 points from those games and lost 1-0 to Yeovil which is always a tough place to go and get a result.

The problems with the 3-5-2 formation is that it kills a lot of competition for places in the team. Which is not good for the club as some of the players may get complacent. Tate would be the only real competition at centre back. Whereas with the 4-4-2 formation you have Austin, Izzy, Monk and Tate all battling for that position. In the left back spot although Ricketts is making it his own, you still have Austin or Ijah Andersson who can come in for him if he is not playing well (Like a few of his recent performances). Also in the right back position you have Tate and also Ricketts can play there. So there is plenty of strong, intense competition there!

I also think i am correct in saying that a lot of the goals we have conceded this season have come from wide areas and crosses, etc. So the wing back system will just create more space for opposing wingers allowing them to whip a lot of crosses in the box, where we do look vulnerable.

I also do not think that having an extra man in midfield would be helpful. We're a team that has a lot of pace going forward, with the likes of Forbes, Goodfellow, Robinson, Britton etc. and packing the midfield will just close down the space that we play so well in. And also with the same point i made with the defence a lot of the competition we have at the moment will be lost. Also just because McLoed and Goodfellow are not doing it at the moment it does not mean you should change to wing backs and put Ricketts in there place. We have seen the quality these players have got and it will come back.

Apart from the last 3 games the football we have been playing is quality. How many teams have won 7-1 this season! How many teams will go to Walsall and win 5-2! There is no need to panic, every team in the world will go though a dip in the season (Yes even Chelsea!) I'm thankful ours has come early. So there is absolutelyno need to change the whole shape of your side! Not one top team in England play a wing back system!

I have FULL confidence in Kenny Jackett and the boys to overcome this dip and win on saturday and begin another successful run of games!
