Knight: The Best Is Yet To Come

Knight: Swans Yet To See Best of Me

Striker Leon Knight has warmed the Liberty faithful with the news that we have not yet seen the best of him which can only be good news. Knight shone in yesterday's 1-1 draw with Wolves in our latest pre season friendly and has said that he has set a goal target for this season although he refused to let on about what it is.

Talking in today's News of the World, Knight said "I've got my targets but I always keep them to myself. The key part is delivering that target.

"There is no way Swansea have seen the best of me yet. I don't think anyone has - someone asked me last year if they had and I said back then no-one would until this season. I didn't really play last season to be fair so I can't say Swansea fans saw the best of me. I had opportunities and scored goals when I had a little run in the team but I was far from my best.

"But I know what I can do even if I don't like saying it to people because they put you down for being big headed or thinking too much of myself.

"It's not that - I'm just very confident in what I do. This is probably the only thing I'm good at so I've worked hard at it - I want to be the best I can. But for me to be at my best I need to be holding down a place in the side and, if the manager gives me a chance and keeps picking me every week then people will see who I am and what I can do.

"I finished the season strongly and then came a huge disappointment. It hit me hard and that is probably the first time I've talked about it. I haven't even spoken to my friends or family about it yet. I didn't play particularly well but the big thing was that we missed out on the Championship.

"The ultimate thing was I came here to play in the Championship and help the club to back to back promotions - I would have been so proud to be part of one of them. It wasn't top be but the aim is to put that right. We will make sure we kill sides off this year"

With Lee Trundle suspended for the opening game of the season Leon Knight will surely partner Rory Fallon up front and they seem to be the preferred partnership for now anyway. And on the evidence of yesterday there was plenty to suggest that it may remain that way for some time to come.
