Huw - We're Getting Down To Business Now

Huw Jenkins said that despite starting behind the rest the Swans are now getting down to business as they prepare for the season

The Swansea City Chairman was talking as the clock ticked towards their Premier League debut on August 13 against Manchester City.

Speaking via the club's official website, Jenkins said  "It's never easy for teams who end up in the play-offs, and especially play-off finals, because of the preparation time that is lost.

"The other clubs who won promotion from the Championship with us last season have been preparing for the Premier League since somewhere around the last week of April.

"But our season did not finish until the end of May and after that you have to allow everyone — whether it's players, staff or management — to have a break.

"We are probably a bit behind everyone else, but we are starting to get down to business now.

"We are refocusing and starting to get things organised for next season.

"We have a bit of catching up to do, but we are confident we will manage it. We are ready to get things moving again now.

"We are on top of every situation we are involved in, and we will go about our business with the best interests of our football club in mind," said the chairman.

"The uncertainty of whether you will win promotion or not sometimes causes some difficulty in pursuing new players.

"But I'd like to let our loyal supporters know that we are working very hard at the club in order to bring the right players to Swansea City.

"I think supporters can really look forward to a massive season. The club has made huge strides in the past few years, and we aim to continue that.

"We are the first Welsh club to reach the Premier League and, with our style of football, we can hopefully continue our development as a club.

"We have also broken our club transfer record to sign Danny Graham, and are working towards adding further quality to this squad.

"So it's a hugely exciting time for the club and for our supporters.

"We are very excited about being a part of the Premier League and we are keen to make our mark.

"We are confident we will be ready for the challenge ahead."
