Brendan Rodgers has hailed new signing Wayne Routledge as an exciting player

Routledge became Swansea City's latest signing when he completed his move from Newcastle yesterday and he could feature in Saturday's final friendly against Real Betis.

Rodgers told the Western Mail “He knows he is coming to a great club that suits his style perfectly

“He will add great competition and quality to the group.

“Technically he is very strong, he turns with the ball very well and tactically he is good because he has been playing first-team football at a high level since he was 17.

“He has got experience in the Premier League and Wayne is a player that excites the crowd and I love those types of players.

“When he gets into the final third he gets the crowd off their feet with a piece of magic."

Brendan also added that it looked unlikely that the Swans would get goalkeeping target Lee Camp when he said “It (Camp) is something that at this stage would probably look highly unlikely to happen

“We’ve submitted a number of bids and they have all been rejected.

“We want to get players who can add to the squad and Gerhard did well.

“He impressed me when he was with us in Austria and I liked his calmness and composure and, very importantly, his management of the game.”
