Reading Trip Sold Out
Reading Trip Sold Out
Monday, 18th Mar 2013 13:37

Saints have sold out all their tickets for the trip to Reading on April 6th, not surprising seeing how few they gave us.

When Saints travelled to Reading in the Championship on the last two occasions we received well over 4,000 tickets, this time we are going to get only half of that, the reason is simple, all Readings Premiership fans have jumped back on the bandwagon so they dont need us and other well supported clubs to help fill up the ground.

With there being so few tickets available they went very quickly even though its a televised game and not to mention that Reading are charging £40 a head if your an adult, compared to the £35 that we charged them back in December, ack then they were offered the full allocation of 3,200, yet even though this was as close an away game that they will play all season apart from the three West London clubs they took only a 2/3 allocation, eventually selling only around 2,200 tickets for what was a crunch relegation battle.

So fair play to Saints supporters for once again turning out in numbers away from home, although the reward for those going by train will be a reduced train service meaning that the carriages will be jam packed all the way.

I remember those great days when there were no away supporters, no trouble and the dell bursting at the seams with over thirty thousand fans.

In these days of travelling supporters and increased support for saints from along the South Coast why , why, oh why didn't they build a bigger ground say for forty five thousand. Most games in the premiership would still be a sell out, it's just too difficult to get a ticket for this pensioner now living in Dorset but following Saints as avidly as when Terry Paine made his debut.

How many others saw Stanley Matthews play at the Dell?

I didn't bother applying for their soul-less dump of a ground, keeping my powder dry for Swansea....
