Exclusive! We find someone who dislikes Brian McDermott

With his popularity still sky-high nearly four-months into the Leeds job, you'd be hard pushed to find someone with an issue with Brian McDermott but a little anti-BMD story slipped under the radar last weekend.

No surprises that it was Steve Morison who put the boot in to McDermott prior to his loan-club Millwall's shock defeat against lowly Yeovil on Saturday.

Morison was clearly vexed at being moved on just six-months into a three-year deal, returning to the New Den where he emerged as a hero before faltering following big-money moves to Norwich and then to us.

Morison said: ‘I turned up first day for pre-season at Leeds, the manager told me that I could leave, so I left. It was black and white. I didn’t expect it. I just went: “All right then I won’t be in training tomorrow and I’ll go and find myself another club.” That’s what I did.

‘He had seven weeks to tell me. It could have been sorted out a long time ago. But you move on, roll with it.

‘I made a few phone calls and spoke to the relevant people. I can pick the phone up to (Millwall chairman) Andy Ambler any time. We sorted it all out"

Morison went on to describe his time at Leeds as "rubbish" pointing out it will be an interesting scenario given he has got another three-years to run on his Leeds deal.

I must admit I was not impressed with the decision to let Morison rejoin his old club, which smacked initially of sheer financial desperation, however it appears that the decision may have been made on more than just money alone.

McDermott has obviously seen something in Morison that bothers him, personally I thought that all Morison needed was a decent pre-season to get him fit and find the form that netted him 40 goals in just 95 games with the Lions.

However Morison was a Neil Warnock signing and clearly a commodity McDermott felt he could carry on without. In some ways, I hope he rediscovers his scoring touch in south London so we can maybe get a decent fee back for him come the January transfer window.
