Staff Meeting At St Mary's Seems Positive
Monday, 20th Jan 2014 11:41

The first news of what has been said in this mornings staff meeting addressed by Katharina Liebherr are filtering through.

At the moment there isnt much of the full details coming through, but the first tweets are starting to happen, Adam Blackmore of BBC Radio Solent who covers most of the Saints games and has a knowledge and contacts within the club as good as most had this to say on his twitter feed.

"Headlines out of staff meeting with owner at #saintsfc this morning: No plans to sell, sticking to path we're on, chief exec decision soon"

Thats good news, the staff have had this from the mouth of our new Chairman herself, it seems that she is looking to move fast and that plans for this event have been in place for some time.

Over the next few days there will of course be more news coming out about the club, some good some bad, however you cannot argue when the Chairman of a company has made it quite clear what the future plans are at last in the short term.

Appointing a new CEO will be the first step and if as rumoured Mauricio Pochettino is offered a new contract and signs it, that will take care of the next step

MOPO staying is key to everything.
Agreed that is encouraging news.

This sounds very positive and knocks on the head the media frenzy of last week. I don't like Chinese takeaways, sorry, I mean takeovers anyway.

All good so far No plans to sell, sticking to path we're on, chief exec decision soon -
Not selling, players or club, we need stability
The path we're on, the destination is our dream, sometimes the scenery hasn't been that pleasant, off the field, I hope it now cheers up
CEO - If the rumours are true, he seems a genuine footie fan, with bucketloads of business acumen, and experience of the Premier League

"business as usual"

What is really needed at Southampton above all else is an end to this extraordinary idea those in football have that the club exists to provide any of the top six clubs with potential stars just for the asking. It is interesting to note that it doesnt happen with other clubs, just Saints, whenever we have anyone who is any good, it is automatically assumed that Saints will sell him and that we are mere custodians of the player for the time being. It is insulting, to say the least, and if Katharina Liebherr takes the trouble to read internet comments, which I doubt, she might take note that this incredible and infuriating phenomenon exists. What I find extraordinary is that it is always Southampton, and the insinuations come from mainly the London clubs who think they have a divine right to poach our players. If I were chairman I would not sell to them on principle. I also find that we Southampton fans are partly to blame for this state of affairs, because we retain this idea that we are a wee family club of no real significance and we are lucky to be in the Premier League never mind top ten. Its ridiculous , damaging, and the sooner fans change their perspective and start demanding that the club protects its interest and ensures players dont think they can jump ship at the first opportunity the better.

Agreed that Pochettino is the key . They should give him a Pardrew type contract.
If he stays then players like Shaw might think again and give it few more years.

Sadly i think we have too much faith in professional footballers, if they get great offers to play for bigger clubs then they will go whoever is the Chairman.

I think we are a little paranoid here, there are plenty of other clubs who have seen their players poached as well
