Gaetano Berardi has become our 5th signing of the summer.

Swiss international Berardi, 25 is our 5th signing of the summer and another non-British new recruit, the fourth this summer following the arrival of veteran keeper Stewart Taylor. The player who mainly operates at right-back can also play across the defence has arrived from Sampdoria and played in just 5 Serie A matches last season.

Berardi started in his native Switzerland with Lugano before moving to Brescia, where he experienced both promotion and relegation before moving to Sampdoria in January 2012. He has however since lost his place in the Samp side and according to Massimo Cellino, who claims to be a friend of Berardi's agent, Berardi has taken a pay-cut to come to Elland Road.

He obviously has a better attitude than compatriot Jonathan Rossini who was sent back to Sassulo due to his "attitude" whilst linking up with Leeds' pre-season training camp in Italy.

Berardi has signed a two-year deal with the option of a third year if desired.
