Osvaldo Up To Old Tricks Again
Tuesday, 6th Jan 2015 22:46

They say a leopard can't change his spots and that seems to be the case with Dani Osvaldo having to be restrained from attacking a team mate on the pitch.

Osvaldo has had a chequered year since departing St Mary's last January on loan, at the moment he is at Inter Milan and it looked like he was getting his career back on track a little.

But suddenly Osvaldo was back to his old ways, Inter were drawing 1-1 in the final stages of their trip to leaders Juventus and were pushing for a winner in the final minutes, Mauri Icardi who ad scored Inter's equaliser broke with the ball and had Osvaldo well placed to pass to, instead he chose to shoot and after the shot had gone high and wide, Osvaldo took exception to what he saw as a perfect opportunity to pass to him in a better position wasted.

One thing that Osvaldo himself didn't waste was any time in squaring up to Icardi and only the intervention of his team mates stopped him attacking his fellow striker.

Clearly Saints are going to struggle to offload Osvaldo before the end of a our year contract he is 18 months into, even if Saints offered to give away the striker there would be the matter of his reported £60k or so wages, most of which are still probably being paid by Saints to get him away from St Mary's.

When I first read this headline, I figured he was tired of Milan and was using his old exit strategy. But to be fair, if you look at the video, he gets in Icardi's face, but there are no swung punches or head butts:

Should he have taken this up in the locker room rather than the pitch, yes, but I bet Milan fans watching had the same reaction, Icardi was selfish, had no shot and did not pass. Osvaldo must have thought he was back playing with Puncheon!
