Jay Rodriguez Signs New Saints Deal
Tuesday, 12th May 2015 15:42

The recent trend of Saints best players leaving the club once a big chequer is waved at them has been stopped with the news that Jay Rodriguez has put pen to paper.

Saints have announced that Jay Rodriguez has signed a new contract that will keep him at the club to 2019, this is great news, not only because of the fact that one of our best players has shown faith in the club and stopped the trend for our best players leave, but because it shows that our current squad do seem to have faith in what we are trying to do as a club.

Hopefully now the club can start to build for next season with confidence that unlike last the majority of this seasons squad will still be in situ.

With several clubs including Spurs, Liverpool & Man City rumoured to be after J Rod it is great news that he has shown that not only does he appreciate the club helping his recovery but he believes that we are ambitious.

Excellent news and a good signal. Just hope he can come back as an even better player. But, nice to hear something positive before the season closes. It would be wonderful if Schneiderlin, Alderweireld and Clyne followed but probably asking too much.

Some good news at last on players. Let's hope he is good pals with Morgan and Nat and persuades them to stay.

Sorry to be negative Nick but what reason would there be for J Rod not to sign a contract extension? Remember he has not played competitively since this time last year and there is no certainty that he will regain his pre injury form.Hardly a good C V to put in front of a prospective employer should he have decided to leave is it?

Great news. Felt sure we'd lose him. He's a big talent and this is a decent show of intent from the club. One down, three to go..

A bit of positivity at last. Hopefully, he'll be raring to go for a great new season.

When is Clynes' 10 day deadline to advise what he's up to expiring??

Please remember this is a Football Contract: the team must honor it but not the player.

It took two windows to get him to leave Burnley. He was waiting to see if there were other suitors. When there were none, he settled for us.

The teams who are now "interested" are now worried about his injury and would not pay him or Saints big money. They will wait to see how he does in the first half of next season. Then they will swoop and he will be off. It's the nature of the business.

Yes Boondock but the contract puts up the fee and he wont be able to go in January without the club wanting him too.

Corkcity - he will be on a rolling 10 day deadline until the moment he signs for Man U
