Eder Ready For Chelsea Test

The Swans splashed around £5m on Eder this summer to give them a second striking option and the new man has his sights focused on a possible competitive debut for the club at Chelsea on the opening day of the season.

Eder should feature in the final pre-season game against Deportivo La Coruna at the Liberty this evening but he has his focus set on next week's game and would love to make a first Premier League start at the home of the Champions.

Eder is likely to start the season on the bench thanks to the form of Bafetimbi Gomis at the back end of next season but Garry Monk is known to use the striking options available to himself and he is certainly set to have his fair share of appearances for his new club next season.

The Portugal international netted his first goal for his country against Italy in the summer and a good season in the Premier League could see him high up the pecking order for his country ahead of the European Championships next summer.

And of course for him next Saturday as well there is the chance to come face to face with his fellow countryman Jose Mourinho who will be looking to defend the Premier League crown that he won for Chelsea last season.

"Mourinho is a big name back home, his name and his achievements are always in the papers" said Eder.

"He is a great coach – he is in every newspaper.

"Chelsea will be difficult but we will aim to have a good game and hopefully get the result we want.

"I am excited coming into the Premier League and I am looking forward to that first game and to showing my best to help this team.

"The football is fantastic in the Premier League. Swansea play great football and I want to come and score goals.

"Me and Jose Fonte speak a lot. He told how good it is over here, about the atmosphere, and it excited me."
