Rangers Youngsters won their second Puma Youth Alliance League Cup group game, with an emphatic 5-0 victory over Rushden at Harlington last Saturday.

Rangers Youngsters were a bit more comfortable than they were against Millwall last weekend and an emphatic victory, means that Rangers are well on course for a place in the last 16 of the competition.

The game started brilliantly for Rangers, taking the lead after just 3 minutes through German. Rushden’s resistance held firm until the 74th minute when Danny Bailey headed home Terry Smith’s free kick. Despite pressure from the visitors to get back into the game, the Young R’s held firm and went onto run riot in the last 6 minutes of the game with goals from Parker(2) and Ehmer.

Boss, Steve Brown told the Official QPR Website after the game;

We got off to a great start but didn't capitalise on it .

The second goal gave us some breathing space and only then did we start doing the thing we work on in training, pressing the ball and moving it.

Our third goal was everything we work on - we pressed, we won the ball, Antonio moved it quickly and Joe whipped in the perfect cross. It was uncomplicated and proved that if we can play with our heads and not our hearts we'll get better.

I'm pleased also that we kept a clean sheet - Niki-Lee deserves that, as do our defenders who have been outstanding in the last two games.

Rangers Youngsters are next in action in the Puma Youth Alliance Cup, away at Wycombe on Saturday 27th September, kick off – 11.00am

All Rangers Youth Team home games are played at Imperial College Sports Ground, Sipson Lane, Harlington, Middlesex and Kick Off at 10.45am.
