Saints Could Be Heading To China Friday, 29th Sep 2017 10:00 According to reports this morning Saints could be heading to the Far East next summer as they forge links with the new owner Jisheng Gao, Arron Sanders. As reported this morning by the Daily Echo, Saints Manager Mauricio Pellegrino met with the clubs new owners the Gao family following last weekends fixture at home to Manchester United. He the described the new owners as 'humble people' and that they did not really discuss anything in regards to their plans for the future of the club, however the one thing he did reveal that was talked about was when the team would play matches in their native country of China. Now the idea of a Premier League side playing in China during the pre season period is nothing new these days, and we even have tournaments such as the Premier League Asia trophy take place during that time. However it would be a new venture for Saints although a logical one with their new connection to China, the opportunity to brake some ground in a commercial sense for the club in Asia is an exciting one and the potential to increase our revenue further in this area is important to improving the club and being able to challenge the big six. Although the impact on the players themselves with all the travelling involved, will be interesting to see if it impacts our start to next season should next summer be the chosen time frame for the future trip. I feel the future is bright for the club on the Asian continent, and we can no doubt look forward to more and more activity from the new board in this area of the world.
