Pellegrino Praises Saints Fans For Staying Behind The Team !
Sunday, 22nd Oct 2017 10:14

One of the most pleasing aspects of yesterdays game was the fact that the Saints fans kept with the team even when it looked like being another goalless game and the manager appreciated it.

Saints fans like most football supporters can sometimes be fickle, indeed it often frustrates me that some always have to have a scapegoat, but the fact remains that we turn up in big numbers week in week out and this season we have stayed behind the team despite a lack of goals.

When Sofiane Boufal scored his late goal yesterday it was pleasing he did so with the fans still roaring the team on and not giving it stick or leaving in droves, hopefully that goal will be a turning point in our season.

Mauricio Pellegrino appreciated that the supporters have been patient and thanked them in his post match interview.

“I am happy because the fans were supporting us and they were patient with the team — always receiving the messages from my players on the pitch,” said Pellegrino.

“We were pushing harder towards the end, and most important for us is that we deserved to win.

“We have to go step by step. Next week we have another tough game, but hopefully this victory can help us to improve and work harder to prepare for the Brighton game.”

Think - anyone that left 6 mins from time missed one of the great Saints goals. The old cliche is 'worth the admission money for that alone' - so it would be a real sickener to have missed it. So all you early leavers think about that next time....
