Hasenhuttl Talks The Beer Necessities After Arsenal Win
Monday, 17th Dec 2018 09:51

Ralph Hasenhuttl spoke about the Intensity of the last week after the great win over Arsenal on Sunday afternoon, read what he had to say here.

The Austrian spoke of what he had concentrated on in the week leading up to the game which started with the played day off being cancelled and ended with a St Mary's crowd in raptures.

"It's amazing what the team can do in a week. It was very intensive, we had time to work on the basics and built the fundamentals for our game.

"I'm very proud of how focused and uncompromising they were, and when they had the chances, how merciless they were.

"It was a fantastic atmosphere and a special feeling here to win the match."

Hasenhuttl though restrained himself from running on the pitch during the game when Charlie Austin scored, but did so the moment the final whistle blew.

"I had to run to my guys because they were waiting. I shook hands later and it was OK,"

"It's what I wanted to feel when I came to the Premier League, this atmosphere after the game, and to celebrate such a moment is something very special for me."

But after the euphoria of his first win, Hasenhuttl knows this is only the start and that the concentration and focus has to be kept going.

“We are not out of the situation at the moment,” he insisted. “We are still in the zone where we are battling not to relegate."

“But it is a really important step that they see that when we attack the ball together and try to create our triangles where we maybe set some traps and Arsenal with very good individual players have problems to create chances."

“That can be a way to get more points."

“We have a very tough schedule the next weeks so it was important to get our first points and three we didn’t get for a long time so it was a very important win.”

He did end on a comical note commenting on the free beer tokens sent to season ticket holders and suggesting that it might be a good luck charm that could be repeated although Ralph Krueger and his board might not be so keen.

Hasenhuttl commented that he did not expect everyone to return the favour and buy him a drink but there might be a precedent.

“I have to say I don’t drink beer as often,” he joked.

“It was the first perfect step to help us.

“I heard when it works like this you have to do it every game at home so we have a look.”

It's not true that you have to be drunk to watch Saints - but after the Arsenal game - it obviously helps build the enthusiasm.

Maybe another round next home game Ralph.or ?
