Saints Linked With Che
Monday, 28th Jan 2019 09:45

Not Che Guevara the Cuban revolutionary but Che Adams the Birmingham City striker who is reportably also wanted by Liverpool and Manchester United.

Saints are being linked heavily with 22 year of, Birmingham City forward Che Adams and there are rumours of several big teams being interested including the aforementioned North West duo.

However that is more likely to be Birmingham or his agent trying to drive the price and his wages u a notch or two.

Adams was born in Leicester and played for non league Oadby Town and then Conference side Ilkeston before joining Sheffield United in November 2014 in what has been described as a six figure deal.

Ironically his debut for the Blades and therefore his full professional debut was against Saints in the League Cup quarter final in December 2014 when he came on as a sub at half time and played his part in the Blades 1-0 win.

He played 47 times for the Sheffield club before joining Birmingham City in August 2016 for a fee reported to be around £2 million.

Since then he has made steady progression leading to this season when he has really caught fire and been linked with a move a step up the ladder to the Premier League, so far this season he has scored 14 Championship goals in 28 appearances, in his career at St Andrews he has notched 26 goals in 98 appearances.

Able to play either as a forward or an attacking midfield he is renowned for his pace and strength and ability to change games and at only 5ft 9 tall is something of a pocket rocket.

At this stage of his career a move to Saints would probably be better for him in the long run than a glamour move, certainly at Liverpool he would find himself struggling to get into their attack which already has six players who would get into most Premier League teams.

A move to St Mary's would offer him the opportunity to be in first team contention right from the off, in the old days this would be a no brainer for a player, but too many youngsters prefer to make themselves financially well off and end up rotting out of sight at the Big Six clubs than having a successful career in the Premier League by getting their grounding in first.

This seems a serious potential deal in that the player looks likely to move somewhere in the next few days it's just a question of where.

I don’t know too much about this guy but he appears to fit in with Ralph’s new policies. Not just for now but one to work with for the future. Nothing against Charlie but he’s always been injury prone & the new style just wont suit him.I really think it’s worth RH looking at Boufall & carrillo & seeing if he can work his magic.
The rest of the season is about consolidation now & maybe catching Bournemouth! + hoping the skates only make the playoffs & cock that up

I know nothing of this lad but if he is any good then I'd be very surprised if Birmingham will let him go now and risking a chance of reaching the play-offs. Another story without legs?

This is probably a typical RH type of player:
Not the finished article.
Hasn´t played in the PL yet.
Young, promising, quick.
RH wants to make him a PL player for Saints and the finished article.

I like this approach.

I thought we were slow off the mark when this lad was doing so well at Sheffield United and we didn't bid for him then...(hey ho Les).

Brum have very few players with any real worth (£) and so they are sure to try and get top price for him when he eventually goes.--alternatively he could sign for Liverpool now and save everyone the trouble.

This typifies the January transfer window, potentially damned if we sign him and damned if we don't. I'm not sure exactly where he fits into the current plans as he seems to have similar attributes to Ings, Sims and Long. The attraction is, of course, that he is scoring goals at present but that is no guarantee of future performance. If we don't sign him at his currently inflated price and he moves elsewhere then the board will be hammered by disgruntled supporters. If we sign him and he turns out to be another turkey the board will be hammered by disgruntled supporters. If the club behaved like some others we could have tapped him up weeks ago and let him hone his sulking skills, humming "Oh when the Saints....." whilst he trained by himself. Result.
