In Ralph We Trust !
Wednesday, 27th Feb 2019 09:18

In Ralph We Trust, a win tonight takes us clear of the relegation zone, this is a season defining game it has to be won and we can do just that !

Results went for Saints last night meaning that a win against Fulham will take us two points clear of Cardiff and drag Brighton into the mix as assuming that we don't win by six we will be level on points with them.

There has been a lot of panic on social media since the defeat at Arsenal but we should remember the job that Ralph Hasenhuttl has done so far has been excellent, yes there have been blips, but he can't just change things around overnight, but in gaining 15 points out of his 12 games in charge he has turned round a season that under Mark Hughes was heading for disaster.

To put that in perspective Hasenhuttl has earned an average of 1.25 points per game during his time in charge, if he replicates that between now and the end of the season and we will be on 37/38 points and that will be enough.

But some have lost a little focus on what Hasenhuttl has been doing, if he had been in charge from the start of this season and gained this ratio then we would now be sitting comfortably in mid table, indeed Leicester after their win last night are 11th on 35 points exactly 1.25 points per game. Eddie Howe at Bournemouth is a fraction over and will be under should the Cherries lose at Arsenal tonight, in fact is we win and they lose then Hasenhuttl's ratio is up to 1.38 and Howe's down to 1.21, this puts it in real perspective given Howe's reputation for what he has done at Bournemouth.

As it stands 1.25 points per game last season would have seen us into 9th place and nudging Everton in 8th in the final table.

At 1.38 per game last term he would have been 8th and nudging Burnley in 7th by barely a point.

So far Ralph Hasenhuttl has done a great job at this football club in very difficult circumstances, we all know things are still far from perfect, but they are still a lot lot better than at any time in the last 18 months and we can see a way forward.

Between now and the rest of the season Ralph Hasenhuttl needs the support of the fans to do the job he was brought here to do, he is on track to do that even after two straight defeats.

This evening's game against Fulham will be a season defining game, by the end of it the last 10 games will be a lot clearer in the direction we are taking, Ralph Hasenhuttl will be there, I hope that he will be joined by those who want the same aims as him both on and off the pitch..

If we win tonight we'll have 27 points with 10 games to go.

Last season we had 27 points with 10 games to go. (And we picked up 9 more).

You've got to trust Ralph to do better than Hughes did, with the only possible worry being that it was Tadic's and Gabbiadini's goals in the two wins that really kept us up and they're both gone, to either not be replaced or having been replaced by less effective players. And our strikeforce generally is threadbare. So Ralph arguably now has a harder task.

Yes, in Ralph we trust.
It's the board and lack of talent on the pitch that worries us!

If only Ralph could play centre back or forward then I would trust him but on the sidelines with the wrong team selected he will be judged rather than adored.

YES - I think most of us " trust " Ralph. He has set up a rigourous training plan that gets the players fit, and his very " hands on " style means he doesn't delegate to others.
His media appearances are worthwhile watching and he's not afraid of telling it - like it is.

The Board have put their trust in every manager we've employed and "trust "hem to make the right decisions. With hindsight we can all make a list of the bad decisions that were made in the past.

Should we have sold JayRod - in preference to someone else? Those all too few goals that Boufal scored may have been Goal of the Season quality, but he comes through as a "one man band" who goes for glory every time and isn't a part of a team - perhaps that goes down as a Black mark against Puel who liked him in the French League.

On the face of it - Carrillo was a desperate buy who had no time to fit into what was already a rather poor side, and Mark Hughes' moment of glory in keeping us up, fades into insignificance with his insistance on continually using Hoedt in preference to Bednarek. Many would agree that the performances we've seen from JWP of late are as good as any he's made in his 200 previous games, and the apparant ease with which Hughes let Jake Hesketh and Josh Sims go out on loan - without a second thought .

Not sure we can totally blame him for allowing Tadic to leave (read Tadic interview in Holland - he seemed to think his Prem. days were over)...but Hughes didn't seem to take Tadic that seriously and perhaps he ought to have been encouraged to stay longer.
We all recall Gabbiadini's "whirlwind "start , after which his game time didn't justify his poor goal tally and he just wasn't suited to the more "physical " hard-running Prem style.
I'm sure he's more suited to the Italian League and will surely do better there.

Back to Ralph - he really has to make the best of "what's left" and in surviving it will be as much credit to him, as any efforts of those out on the pitch.

Trust in Ralph - we have to , because there are no other alternatives at present.

Why do you trust Hasenhüttl? He could be out of his depth just like the others. He knew the set up here when he took on the challenge and so far has nowhere near delivered on all the hype and bullsh*t surrounding his appointment.

Does it take a relegation before people make their judgement?

The key question about Ralph now the lengthy (and without it we would be down with Huddersfield) bounce has come to an end is how he deals with this downturn in form/results. Yes, his stats are still good but 2 points from the last four extrapolated to the end of the season gives a very different picture. Tonight is key - winning is the way for Ralph to get us all reaffirming our trust.
