Hasenhuttl Is Thinking Positively For The Summer
Thursday, 11th Apr 2019 16:15

For Ralph Hasenhuttl it is all about Here comes the summer and their are no negative undertones for the Austrian, for him its the positive touch as he has already started to look towards the transfer window.

Although Ralph Hasenhuttl has not been afraid to use the youth in the team he knows he can't keep relying on teenage kicks and is therefore already planning for the January transfer window, in that frame of mind he is not thinking anything other than securing Saints safety and then getting in the players he wants quickly.

Speaking ahead of the Wolves game he said:

"You do both things. One thing is focusing on the weekend but as long as we are not safe it is not easy to prepare the next season,”

“We have to have the right decisions when we have the chance to take them and therefore we are working also and looking at new players."

“The sooner we are safe the better it is."

“We all know that the sooner we get the last wins we need for 40 points, for example, the better and we have another chance at the weekend.”

Back in January Saints had an offer in for Che Adams, but with Birmingham under a transfer embargo and unable to reinvest any proceeds they were not budging and although the striker could be a consideration Ralph would not be drawn.

“I don’t want to discuss any personality.

“We were linked with him in the winter transfer period also.

“We have eyes on a few young players who fit in our shape and philosophy and we are mainly looking for younger players.

“First, we have to be safe.”

Hasenhuttl was then asked whether Adams is one of the names on a long list, with the Austrian replying: "Yes."

But Hasenhuttl is really looking towards Wednesday week as that could be the first day that Saints could truly be mathematically safe, that will be the day after the Watford game and the first time he could truly plan for next season if the results have all gone the right way for us
