THE DALE:
_________
How much nicer does the league table look now? Dale’s win over Milton Keynes (They are not the Dons) was a third consecutive win which has seen Dale fly up the League One table and up to 11th on 19 points. We’re actually in the top half of the league. That said, habit and sense still has me looking behind us at the teams at the wrong end of the table. Nobody is looking at the playoffs yet? Are they?! The word isn’t even allowed in my house!

The same names are on the injury list. Ryan McLoughlin is permanently on there I think. Rekeil Pyke is on there as well which is unfortunate as I feel he was starting to really add something to the squad and Jim McNulty has been sidelined recently as well but the signing of Paul McShane has cushioned that blow brilliantly as the Irishman has been superb in the three games he’s played. Spanish Bob has also missed out recently with Jay Lynch doing well in his absence.

Rochdale’s recent record against Oxford doesn’t make for great reading in all honesty. It’s been about 15 years since we won down at the Kassam Stadium and we haven’t beaten them in any fixture since March 2014.

Oxford’s recent run has been as good, if not better than Dale’s so we’ll have our work cut out in this fixture so it’s safe to assume I’d be pretty ok with a point from this game.
I said at the beginning of the month that October was a huge month for Dale and we desperately needed to pick up points. We’ve done that and in doing so relieved a lot of pressure that was building.

If we can bring three points back up north, brilliant, I’d take a point, I’m not expecting anything.

THE OPPOSITION:
______________
As I alluded to above, Oxford’s form coming into the game has been brilliant. They’ve picked up massive wins in both the league and the Carabao Cup in recent weeks.
A stunning 4-0 win over Premier League West Ham United stands out as their most impressive win this season which has seen them reach the fourth round of the Carabao Cup in which they take on Sunderland next week.

Oxford have found the net on a very regular basis, through James Henry (8 goals) and his namesake Tarique Fosu-Henry (7 goals) and they’ve been well supported by former Liverpool midfielder Cameron Brannagan. The 23 year old joined Oxford in January for an undisclosed fee from the scousers on a three and half year deal and has been very impressive.

Another eye-catching move for Oxford was the loan signing of Liverpool starlet Ben Woodburn. Woodburn broke onto the scene on Merseyside with a goal against Leeds in just his second game for the first team and went on to play several times in the Premier League during the 2016/17 season but has found opportunities limited since then.

Oxford currently sit 5th in League One with 22 points, three points ahead of Dale on but have only lost once at home up to this point.

Karl Robinson is the man in charge at the Kassam having been in charge since March 2018 following an 18 month spell in charge of Charlton Athletic.
