Spurs Trip Now Sold Out
Wednesday, 29th Jan 2020 20:33

Saints have sold their allocation for the FA Cup Replay in quick time with all the tickets snapped up in just over a day for the tie which it is now confirmed will also be shown live on TV.

Saints took an allocation of 5,690 and although some were wary that these would be sold they were snapped up by season ticket holders and members with only a couple of hundred filtering down to those who are neither.

The Emirates FA Cup fourth-round replay has been selected though for live television coverage by BT Sport.

The game has now been confirmed as a 7.45pm GMT kick-off on Wednesday 5th February 2020, as both teams look to earn the right to host Norwich City in the last 16.

It will be great to see another large following for Saints in the FA Cup, with Premier League away allocations restricted to 3,000 at most for all games, the days of massive away supports now only happen in the FA Cup as happened a couple of years ago when despite atrocious weather conditions over 5,000 Saints fans went up to Wigan.

Older fans will remember some great trips with 10,000 or more going to Spurs in 1990, Portsmouth in 1984 and 12,000 to West Bromwich Albion in 1976, sadly those sort of days rarely happen now.

The 13,000 to Nottingham Forest on this day (29 January) in 1977 was probably our biggest away following for a 4th rd FA Cup tie.

If we'd demanded the same percentage allocation that we gave Spurs at St Mary's, we could have 9,000 had fans there on Wednesday night.

Somewhat difficult to get close to matching the figures suggested in your last paragraph Nick when the club take less than 6000 tickets in the first place, would you not agree? Another away day cock up by whoever is running the ticket office which instead of saving money has cost the club revenue. Coupled with the news in regard to Cedric and his replacement, today is a day when once again in regard to SFC "You simply couldn't make it up".

I don't think the fans were wary of them being sold, only detractors of Saints fans who seem to have a constant downer on our support and that seemingly, appears to include the management of the club. Our away following is solid, good and vocal and Ralph and the actual team seem to appreciate it. Pity it is not recognised by some on this forum or those in the commercial sector of SFC.

The whole FA Cup thing now becomes even more farcical with the games being moved to mid-week, so attendances are likely to be even lower across the board. The authorities, really don't seem to want this cup competition to survive.

Even with it being on the box, in midweek, at short notice, and with their prices somewhat inflated, Spurs and our box office (who also let them have our prime seats at knockdown prices) will all probably regret not offering us some more -too late already?

Our fans are awesome, and it's time our powers that be woke up to this fact.

Mark Chapman on Radio 5 last night actually made a point about Spurs charging Saints £25 whilst Saints only charged £10 and also the fact that the allocation was not right. I was a bit surprised as we rarely get any support from commentators and pundits.

Chapman was also going on about the impact TV scheduling has had on fans and prices and how could fans be expected to a) pay some of the prices and be expected to go to every game - especially if they take kids etc and b). be expected to go to every game when the schedules are so messed about. He was saying all this on the back of Guardiola's criticism of Man City fans, saying that before he criticised he should have considered the cost to an average fan since the New Year alone.

A1079:
It's not just about what the NLYobbos are doing, it's about our own people abusing our own fans.
