Veteran defender Sharp was a deadline day signing in August 2006 on a day of numerous transfers from Spotland. He was drafted in on a free transfer from Shrewsbury where he had begun the season on a month to month deal, though he had only played one game for Salop. Whilst it was clear that Sharp's better days had been before he came to Spotland, he certainly did a job in the short term whilst with us. He struggled for pace certainly but he added experience at the back.
However, it was clear that bringing him was only a stop gap measure, and whilst he could play well for 89 minutes in a game, there was always that feeling that there was a cock up just around the corner.
His stay last just four months at Spotland, making a total of fourteen games for the club, with his last game coming in November, well before his contract expired.
Since leaving Dale, the ginger haired defender has returned to Scottish football and is playing for Airdrie United.
